DOCUMENTS FOUND SAY THAT 3 OF THE CHINESE GIRLS GYMNASTICS TEAM ARE ONLY 14!!!!! THEY CHEATED... IF PROVED GUILTY THEY WOULD BE STRIPED OF MEDALS AND ONLY HAVE 2 BRONZE LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!
 
i don't think you need to be harsh to them...im sure there country will make them dissapear as it is....Allen, i'm awaiting your response of the title
 
if they are striped of their medals, then it would give the US two more golds. and take away six from china...
 
So is there an actual chance of them getting their medals taken away? Please dont get my hopes up only to be crushed by the god-forsaken IOC.
 
wow only kids at my school are whites and mexicans. o and 1 black kid out of the 2300 students
 
I wouldnt want to get that extra medal if I was an Olympian- because you know that you were actually beat by someone who was too young and still better than u- I think they deserve either way if its true or false
 
It's not really debatable. If they really did cheat, they don't deserve the medals. The Olympics are the most prestigious of all athletic events. The rules are there for a reason, to make it fair and to keep the playing field even.

Whose to say that the U.S. doesn't have an amazing 14 year old gymnast that couldn't compete because of the rule? If the Chinese girl is 14, then we were at a disadvantage and the Chinese don't deserve anything.

cheating in the Olympics... that's as lame as it gets.
 
I swear, how can some of you still not understand this after it has been mentioned in multiple threads. Younger girls DO have an advantage over the older girls in gymnastics. When girls are young they are built more like guys. they have smaller hips and are more proportional. Once they hit puberty, among other changes girls hips grow wider and spread apart, throwing off balance and making them more unproportional.
 
Wouldn't they have been able to compete in the next olympics? I don't understand why they would forge documents to get underage athletes in. Or do gymnasts peak at age 12 or something.
 
since they start competing at a young age, their knees adn joints and such are dead by the time they get to 18-20 so they have them copete when they are younger than older, and most likely going to be beat by younger kids.
 
the sad part is is that this probably wasn't even the girls idea to begin with. they were totally forced to cheat and they are the ones to be punished. it sucks.

ya but thats a completely different point....The chinese obviously broke a standing olympic rule for gymnastics which would be grounds for disqualification. But you are right, its a stupid rule
 
word, winning gold in the olympics is pretty much their whole life anyways

but cheatings still bad but w/e. i wouldn't really want that medal if I new i was second best.
 
thanks for reading the whole thread. there is a reason they have to be over 16. now figure out what it is. shouldnt be too hard.
 
i dont really care personally. the rules say they have to be 16, but seriously, wouldnt they be more gifted if they were younger (it would be more of a challenge because they have less experience). i cant really explain this very well, but wouldnt it be like some 13 year old skier winning a comp against all the older skiers like simon dumont, etc?

the US lost in SOFTBALL? thats something we should be pissed about..

oh, and both 4x100 teams FUCKED UP. theres much more to be pissed about...
 
wow i thought this was going to be about driving. but yeah this isn't new news but its definitely wrong and it pisses a bunch of people off. I think gymnastics is dope but it doesnt really mean much to me compared to other events in the olympic games.
 
they broke the rules they should be stripped, i do say that they deserve them for kicking ass in my opinion, BUT if they go against the rulebook now it will lead to other shit in the future. The IOC chose the rules and every country knew about them, there will be debate on wether the rules are fair or not (i.e.nastia lukins tiebreaker that put her in 2nd) but the rules are there and they have to be inforced. The chinese did this because they wanted to look good in front of the entire world, the fact that they thought no one would find out was a lil bit dumb, just cause they dont have a free press dosent mean that the rest of the world dosent.

Younger girls have an advantage in gymnastics unlike some other sports. They are smaller, more flexible, better balanced, etc. Besides this, the Olympics see it as unfair to have younger athletes compete due to pressure, expensive contracts, etc. They believe that 12 year olds should not be professional athletes.

Whether you agree or disagree with this rule does not matter. It is the rule. Other countries followed the rule and one (China) supposedly diffferent. For this they should be disqualified.

And the silver medalist who now is getting gold deserves it because she was the best competitor within the rules.

And don't blame asians, blame communists.
 
as good as they might be, or however much they deserve to be there, the fact remains that if they are under 16, they are breaking a rule of the sport, and should be stripped of their medals.
 
What I don't get, is why age matters. Sure, it makes it easier for them at a younger age. They have better bodies at that age for gymnastics. But they also have that much less training. And, you can say it isn't right to put that much pressure on girls that young, but do you really think they wouldn't want to be there if they could. Imagine if there was a 13/14 year old in America watching the olympics, if she was better than everyone else can you imagine how angry she would be that she wasn't alowed to compete. They love that pressure. I think even without the age rule they would have all the same athletes across the board with maybe 4-5 switches.
 
You guys are only annoyed because it was USA silver, and if they get desquilified you will be Gold, if france was second, you wouldnt give a shit!
 
everyone is saying at how they cheating and maybe they did

but what i heard is that alot of the gymnasts that compete for china used to live out in the country and work on the farms, they were not born in hospitals and did not get a birth certificate, therefore there was no official document of how old they actually were, so when there ability was found and the began training and their potential was realized and they qualified for the olympics, they need passports to officially compete in the olympics. so the government printed passports for the gymnasts, with no way of knowing their actual age. so they may have made the passport so they were old enough, who knows. also since china is hosting the olympics they are allowed to have atleast one competator/athlete in each event, so it very well may be that they did not qualify but were allowed to go since china is the host country. also the one who was under 16 years old did not compete in the team events and her medal was taken away from her

this is just what i have heard i do not know if it is 100% legit
