Fuck you ski patrol

The title of this thread is generally the phrase that causes you to actually get in trouble, give a little respect and they are usually pretty reasonable
 
have you guys ever seen that ski patrol show on truTV? i hate some of them in that, but ive never ran into one anything like those.
 
Next time you break a bone or get stuck in the back country in an avy, you can just get yourself out, ok?

But i agree with the volunteer people, they are douches. I respect ski patrol though.

and i am not taliking about ski patrol on big mountains

just ski patrol on local city hills

that take there job like way seriously

 
no way dude..i ride a small hill too..ski patrol isnt that bad..you wont see them stopping avalanches or what not but they make sure you dont do stupid shit...if you build a jump somewhere outside the park and a little kid decides to go off of it and hurts himself im pretty sure the parents can sue because there was no warning of the jump..thats the reason why they knock it down if they see it....and ski patrol also helps you when you get hurt in the park...they also make sure you aren't doing stupid ass shit on the hill too....ski patrol is around for you "rebels" out there...Play by the rules!
 
Like i said, when you fall on a park feature or even hitting like a tree or something, you can ski down yourself with a broken arm and leg. You are a moron.
 
yeah agreed, some are gay, but its all about the mountain that you're at...and they do save lives so be thankful next time you break you're leg and they're there to help you out...or you can say their douchebags and have fun skiing down the hill all by you're lonesome...tough guy
 
Ya can't just generalize ski partrollers like that, yeah some of them them are total dicks and enjoy their little powertrips too often, but some of em are so chill and just do it because they love skiing like we do
 
at my hill they pull passes if they see you doing inverts in the park...and half of them cant even ski down a black diamond without falling
 
Way to rebel against the establishment. You are cool and trendy, and so independent. Way to give the finger to the Man.

The strange part? You need them to do avie control, and to fix you up after that afterbang became a literal crunch. With your lift ticket or pass, you are paying their wages.

If you are skiing nothing but self accessed backcountry, then maybe you can say this, but otherwise, close your mouth.

 
thats exactly my point on small hillsthey think they are cop and pull your pass just to make them selves feel betterand i respect normal ski patrol actuallyjust dont like vollanteerscause they have nothing better to do with there lifeso they "volanteer" at a small hill to getfree hot dogs.which is my point
 
thats my point too. if any of you guys say that if we get hurt and should ski down on our own with broken bones rather than get the ski patrol to help, you obviously havent been to my mountain. the ski patrol cant even go down the blue squares at my mountain in CT with out falling. and trust me, when they fall off the t bar and the chairlift, you know that if you get hurt you DO NOT get them to help you down. i broke my arm and i sure as hell got myself down to the ski patrol shack rather than getting me in the sled. now at bigger mountains, i respect the ski patrol because they actually know what they are doing.
 
oh man that show is a joke.. i watched it for the first time and they could barley even ski. that girl and her dad had a race after the mountain closed and niether of them looks comfortable skiing fast. but other then that the only patrollers ive ever seen that are dicks are from my local hill. anywhere else ive never had a problem with them and I actually want to become a patroller in the next couple years or so.
 
haha, last spring a couple weeks before my mountain closed, me and my friend were getting on the lift and a ski patrol was right behind us with a fatty in his hand and he smoked it on the lift... but i do hate the "safety patrol" who aren't ski patrol but a seperate group that stands by the slow signs and tell everyone to slow down, but only on the really busy weekends...
 
i dont mind ski patrollers out west who actually have to deal with dangerous situations, but guys out eat aer just a douche bags. they alsmot clipped my season pass becasue i had suspedners on my pants while riding the lift. fuck that shit. another instance they tried to clip my pass becasue i went upthe side of a landing of a closed jump. he accused me and my bro of hitting "the 80 footer" which was roped off in every way possible. we skied up the landing which was not, guy was a moron and we eventually embarrassed him in front of head of ski patrol.
 
I was skiing in Switzerland a few year back and there are no ski patrol like anywhere. You have to there are 10 for one giant mountain and you have to call them to get them to come help you. i broke my collar bone and had to ski down from likealmost right at the top, then I had to go to the hospital myself. It sucked.

On the other hand I live in PA and ski on a hill thats like 750 vertical feet and the patrolers are reall d-bags. they literally hide in trees and jump out at you when they see you do something wrong
 
i just got certified to be a patroller, so im doin it this year...
the guys at diamond peak in tahoe are way chill. they done care about much of anything cept helpin people out.
the head guy told me
" we dont get people in trouble for much, as long as they're not hurtin anybody else. As far as im concerned you can be in the trees drinkin, smoking, fucking, whatever it is and we'll just look the other way. But if i find anybody littering i clip they're ticket. I fucken hate littering."
and this guy is a 50 year old man who youd think would be a prick.
 
theres this real cool ski patrol guy at my mountain. his names jeff and he rides anthems and skis park. youre not supposed to do inverts, but i think if he saw it and knew that you were good enough to pull it off, hed be chill about it. idk, some can be dicks and pizza their way down blue squares, but most are just hard working guys who need money, so they do something they love while helping people, and i respect that a lot.
 
usually the patrollers dont even care if you go inverted. its just a CYA (coverurass) for the mountain and they are the ones stuck enforcing it.
 
speaking as a patroller, this guy knows whats up. yeah, there are a lot of dicks out there, i've encountered plenty i just don't like as people, let alone how they do their jobs. it pisses me off more than any of you, because i hate to be thought of as some kind of mountain cop. fortunately, the mountain i patrol at is really chill about things, and i've never had to pull a pass or tear down a jump, but i know people who do it just for kicks, and its infuriating.

but for every asshole out there, there is a guy who is chill. you just never encounter these people, because, by definition, they aren't out to bother you, and wouldn't do anything obnoxious. and there are a hundred reasons why people patrol, don't assume its because they love power. without the patrol, i couldn't afford to ski every weekend like i do now, so for me its a money thing.

if you find yourself in a situation where some intolerant asshole is berating you for no reason, do what you think you have to do. believe me, the patrollers who are out there because they love skiing hate those people more than you ever will.

 
agreed.

everyone is different- some of them can ski, others- maybe not so much, but they're still there to do their job and try to make it safer for the rest of us.

some of the best skiers i see at alta are the patrollers too
 
if you have to ask, you might want to quit skiing now.

most trollers have the superhuman ability to drink all night and still get up at 4am for avie control.
 
Don't assume they are all cool and know their job. There are plenty that are cool and do an excellent job. There are also plenty who are assholes who laugh at customers and their injuries. There are some who are also really stupid, and I've encountered this first hand. So yeah, let's not generalize and say that all patrollers are chill and cool..let's accept that some patrollers are pieces of shit. thanks.
 
One time I was chillen with like 6 other homies in the woods smokin a fat ass blunt and ski patrol rolls up. We were on school ski bus so everyone was like oh shit. ANyways the dude rolls up and asks who carrying and evryone was like shit I dont even know until my homie was like damn I got the little nug right here he pulled out like .8 and the ski patroller dude made him break off half the mothafucken nug then told us to go farther into the woods. I was like shiiiit.

Anyways, I'm down with sk patrol it'd be pretty tight to roll around and pinch kids sacks.
