why is it so shitty right now? its really frustrating me. does anyone know if its forecasted to go up in the near future? other wise im going to have to hold my american purchases for a while...
 
well, thats what you canadians get for being so arrogant when your shit went up [/sarcasm]

at least that means good things for us in the states! might mean a couple trips to whistler and other places this winter. thats pretty sweet
 
Back that statement up..... I'd like to know why you think that. I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong (in some aspects) but it seems that you've jumped on the proverbial NS hate without a cause bandwagon.
To the thread creator, It's good for me. I can go to whistler on the cheap now. It does suck though that you have to hold off buying gear.
 
holly shit. how did this happen so fast? a couple months ago, they were equal. as of today, a canadian dollar is only worth 80 cents in the us.
 
The reason why the canadian dollar is so low is because they have so much invested in natural resources.
 
no, its because everyone is selling their stocks and choosing to cash it in what they think is the strongest dollar right now, even though its not, but since every cashes out in USD in just pumps it more, i learnt that in socials class today
 
whats even more fucked is that ontario is in a 500 million dollar deficit its gonna fuck over everything here now while bc is cutting taxes! WHAT THE FUCK its the damn liberals over spending when the market was good

and I gotta agree with the thread creator I was planning on having some big US purchases but this just ruins it.. apparently its gonna stay like this for awhile

Actually buddy, other way around. Our dollar being at 80-85 cents is healthy. Canadians are going to spend their money at home instead of outside the country and more people with visit canada spending their out of country dollars here helping us out as well. More Americans companies will now start to purchase goods from Canada since its cheaper to buy here then in the states.
What the us can forecast: less canadian visits, less canadians buying american homes and helping bail your banks out, less canadian dollars being spent to buy goods being sold in the USA. Just a little more of that downward spiral.
 
Bullshit. Everything you just said is wrong, but I have to go to class (economy) right now. I will explain later.
 
It kinda sucks for us Canadians, I have stuff I wanna buy from the states but the price just went up like 25%.

That being said it's not really a bad thing for our economy cause we've had some troubles exporting lately because of our high dollar and poor efficiency due to our lack of child labour and our excess of human rights
 
yea man im so pissed about it. There are a few purchase's thqat i really want to and have been meaning to make but i cant because even though they are on sale for some fucking sick price. once you convert it to camadian the price doesnt seem so good anymore.
 
glad i bought my shit before this happened haha. i'm pretty sure it's a combination of the fact that everyone is selling their stocks because they're all idiots, and the fact that our entire country runs on natural resources. but oil and gas are still up so i'm not losing any money unless i start buying from the states.
