today i was listening to lewis and florwax on 103.5fm the FOX in colorado, (i think htey broadcast it nationwide, im not sure)

anyway, they had one two iraqi citizens who have lived in iraq their whole lives. one was from bahgdad and the other was from northern iraq.

the lady said her family was effected by WMD from saddam. and plenty others from their villiage. and that they can't get married of have kids because they are infected by the chemicals.

the man from bahgdad was so happy that the americans were doing the things they are doing. and they were both appualed to see the way the american media has swayed the stories.

so at least some iraqis appreciate what we're doing for them, it's a shame our own country doesn't realize it.

Actually (if this is true), it's more likely that this is caused by the fallout from depleted uranium bullets used by American troops in the Gulf War. The uranium got into the groundwater and caused cancer in children and the elderly as well as serious birth defects.

This was aggravated by the fact that there is only one functioning cancer treatment center in all of Iraq.

So... what's this about Saddam being a monster, again?

Im saying you cant just give the money to a country with no govermnent, hell you cant give money to countries with goverments, look at north korea, we gave then aid money in exchange for not developing nukes, and we all know how well that worked. Im saying that our troops in Iraq are a necessary evil. We need to stabiles the country otherwise all the recourses put into it is for nothing. Any aid money would only fal into the hands of the corrupt, not to the people who need it. It’s a fucked situation but its actually better in the long run that the Jihadist are flocking there. We have all the bad guys in one concentrated area, instead of planning 911 shit, they are fighting our troops, not attacking US civilians. It sucks for the Iraq people, but it’s not their fault or ours.

 
thats true, i was just making sure...it is a lose-lose situation, but in the end hopefully it will turn out better for both sides, if done properly it can have a good outcome.

hey, the_friesz, question out of curiosity. i know depleted uranium bullets are armor piercing rounds. but are they harmful in any waybeing as their depleted? im not to knowledgeable about radioactive materials, but i do know that no soilders handling them on a daily basis are having those problems.

Good job on figuring that out! But when a depleted uranium bullet hits something hard (like a tank, or a building), the uranium tip basically shatters and shoots a cloud of radioactive dust up into the air. It settles back down to the ground, and gets washed into the groundwater, causing cancer in those with poorly developed or aging immune systems.

Yes, Saddam was a 'monster.' But that's a very subjective thing to say. Just trying to point out that there's a good reason the United States is viewed as a monster by many people in the Middle East.

The depleated uranium is fucking everybody up in Iraq including american soilders.......the dust is everywhere and people breathe it in. There are Iraq war vets.(*from this war) that are on disability with sicknesses with know know cause (because the military is not going to admit that the depleated uranium they use is fucking up american soilders) There is one soilder who returned from the war ,got his wife pregnant,and they just had a daughter with deformities.This is a soilder who is on disability for illnesses with no known cause = depleated uranium= which is known to cause birth defects.

i would not be one to say or not. there was an interesting graph that showed unimployment in the us and as Clinton was president it was consistantly going down and as soon as Bush took office, there was a steady spike in unimployment. Ill try to find it. the other thing i would say is that there are people that know alot more about the economy then you or I and some of them would argue for or against what you said about Clinton not being a direct influence over the economy in the 90's
