So Friday night, after drinking some in my friends dorm room, I leave to go grab something from my room (i go to Western Washington U). Anyway, as I am leaving his room, I mention something about "having 5 shots" or something. Anyway, there are these bitches called Resident advisors whose sole goal seems to be to get students in trouble when they are minding their own business. Anyway, a particularly douchetastic RA happens to be walking by as I mention this, and demands I show him ID. For some reason, I just comply, and now a few days later I receive this email saying I need to talk to the director. I was reading that sometimes for alcohol offenses they make you pay for a 4 class rehabilitation bullshit program. fuck this. his only proof is hearsay. And to make matters worse, he then demanded to search my friends room (luckily my friend hid all of his vodka, tequila, and beer of which there was quite a bit). He found 1, yes only 1, beer can in the recycling and proceeded to write every single person in the room up for this single empty old can. Sorry for the rant but I'm just pissed. I can't afford the time or cost of this bullshit program if I have to go. I can't even afford a mt. baker pass. FML
 
Man, I am really sorry to say but they are just doing their job. And the one beer can in the trash they kinda get fucked with because they can't go through and interrogate everyone to find out whose it is so they have to write everyone up. Just a part of life really man. RAs do a lot of good shit too though, they aren't all completely bad and horrid people.
 
my ra was chill as fuck and she didnt bust a single kid on our floor.. doing thier job is one thing goin a lil overboard in my opinion
 
Yeah, the searching thing was a little overboard, but in all honesty to the OP, lesson learned, don't walk out of a room talking about how many shots you have drank. YOu probably got unlucky with a brand new RA that does everything by the book. When you get one that has been an RA for a couple years you can get away with almost everything.
 
Ya I understand it was his job, and respect that. But IMO it wasn't the most appropriate response, and he was very sinnacle in his approach. Moreover, after consulting other students in that dorm complex, it sounds like he is extremely power hungry and egotistical. IMO it was within his range of action, but still an abuse of power.
 
some RA's can be REAL pricks, i'm just glad i turned 21 and don't live in a dorm so i don't have to deal with it.
 
i threw a smoke bomb in my ex gfs RA's room a few years ago. she didnt like it very much, but never found out who it was... it was an all girls dorm and she had a problem with me everytime i would visit her and sleep there.
 
Story time.
Last spring I went to go visit my friend on his birthday in the dorms, just to take some shots with him and wish him a good one. On our way out we encountered this do gooder RA that saw the bottle of jager my friend was carrying and the half-empty 12 pack I had. Basically this fool thought we were living in the dorms and demanded we hand him over our alcohol. We tell him to fuck off and to get out of our way unless he wants some shit to go down. He keeps demanding our ID's and then, very stupidly, tries to snatch the beer out of my hand. I'm drunk and in no mood for his bullshit so I snatch it right back, which provokes this kid to decide to block our path until campus cops show up. I drop the beer and shove him against the wall and my friend sends a nice swing right into his ugly mug. Right before this, the dorm kids hear the commotion from there rooms and come out in time to see there worthless RA humiliated, he ran off to the bathroom with blood spurting out his nose. I later learned that he tried desperately to learn who we were but never did, mainly cause no one knew who the fuck we were in those dorms except our friend who never said a word. I don't mean to sound like I think I'm really tough or anything, I just hate people who try and elevate themselves based on their pathetic illusion of authority.
Sucks about your RA, usually the people that sign up for that job have some issues.
 
Has anyone here actually been or wants to be an RA? I've read so many "stereotypical RAs" articles on College Humor that it really doesn't seem to be a job anyone would want.

I'd think that if you're a chill RA (a guy) you'd be a hit with the ladies as you usually have your own room, right? And if you're a chill girl, you're probably gonna have to push all those wooers away because there are so many. But otherwise than that, I think it would suck being an authority on campus.
 
fuck that shit doing their job, they chose that job, i wouldnt choose that job, the decisions you make are who you are... these guys are pieces of shit

my RA was almost too relaxed, we'd occasionally see her out at parties

thursday, friday, and saturday nights ra's would patrol and there was one gay guy who wrote everyone up, everyone else would just make you dump

Contest that bullshit. My roomate was written up two weeks ago cause the RA caught this girl with 1 beer in her hand. Everyone got written up. They didnt find anything else. Just fight it! By the way, you shouldnt have let them search the room. Just cause someone says "beer" doesnt allow them to search through all your shit. Shenanigans! good luck

haha you're a fucking idiot for giving him your ID and not running away. if they dont see an ID, or knows you personally enough to know your name, you're in the clear. way i see it, lesson learned dummy.
 
actually im pretty sure that the police do not need any reason to search your room whatsoever because the dorm belongs to the university and all they need is permission from them to search it. As for searching your personal containers, such as backpacks and such, they need a warrant. But anything like drawers and even the fridge they can just look in because it is university property. I could be way off on this, so dont take my word for it
 
at least with my rez, the common areas the police could just walk through without notice. but your actual bedrooms they could not go in without a warrent or probably cause or whatever.

the RAs at my rez were cool as shit. used to party with us all the time. used to let us roam with booze or whatever we want. we even used to rappell down the stairwell.
 
ya sorry messed that up but after they have that they can go through anything they want that belongs to the university without your permission
 
my RA is a bad ass, he is SXE like hard core straight edge, i go chill with him all the time, i can talk to him about anything. He knows i smoke pot from time to time but he doesnt judge me for it, he is a really cool guy and i trust him a lot
 
haha all I can say is your a dumbass for mentioning anything alcohol related near them.. just ignore them and stop being a douche to them and everything will be fine.
 
my RA's fiance went to my old high school so she loved me, and she used to come to parties we threw off campus. sorry yours is such a bitch.
 
Doing that can get you kicked out. Happened to an acquaintance of mine at WSU. He didn't go to the class and they kicked him out of the dorms.
 
You live in the dorms and drink, and you don't think you're going to get in trouble? Come on man, you're not free you still live in the dorms, you're gonna get jewed.
 
I find it more convenient, right next to class, I am literally 50 feet from the ONLY gym in town, and I have less to worry about.
 
I'll vouch for the OP. I've gotten written up three times at WWU so far, all for bullshit. One was for empty liquor bottles (our bottle collection from the first weekend, we had nice decoration going), one was for my suitemate's getting caught for smoking in the dorms, and one was for literally carrying a drunk girl home.
 
My RA's are amazing, don't care and help us out every chance they get. The females in the other floors are total bitches and are blood thirsty cunts. Holy shit they are unacceptable, they wanna search your room for no reason at all when they creep around male floors looking for people drinking and such.
 
not all ra's are bad man, yesterday was sitting at my desk and i was expecting my friend to be there any second, so when i heard a knock at the door i said "come in" and then my ra walked in and i had a bong and a bubbler out on my desk and she didn't say anything about it, just asked me to fill out her evaluation form and left. also, kids on my floor have seen her at a few parties and she's passed them bowls and shit. god i love ithaca
 
blows dude, my ra caught us playing pong and told us to sink a cup for him. then the floor below our's ra came up and found us and told us to probably stop. then we played some more. and we smoke in our room all the time and no one says anything.
