Well, for those of you who play Texas Hold'em, you will know you take your bad beats. I think tonight I took one of the most crushing blows ever. I entered a $7,500 gaurentee Tournament, $6 buy in with 700 people joining (First place paying $1,500). After 2 hours of playing, 680 people have been eliminated, and I am currently 3rd in chips sitting at the table with the chip leader. I get Jack 10 off, and the chip leader just calls the blind. the flop comes 7 hearts, 8 diamonds, 9 diamonds, and me flopping a straight start betting aggressively. The chip leader calls me all in, showing Ace of hearts and Ace of diamonds (at this point I have him dominated) and the turn comes 4 diamonds, and the river comes Jack of diamonds giving him the Flush. Now the chances of having 4 diamonds on a board is.. astronomical. And this little bitch fucking gloats about it, while I'm crushed walking away with $30 when I should have atleast made 500. I thought today was the day, and I am just fucking pissed off at the world. Fuck.
 
ouch...you would have thought he'd be a bit cautious even with AA knowing that the flop came out open ended straight draw..

win some and you lose some
 
Well if 680 were eliminated in only 2 hrs, it seems the website couldn't muster 700 worthy players either lol.
 
what site do you play on? and yeah that sounds like a bad beat, but nothing too unbelievable.. and 4 suited on the board.. I would't say that "astronomical"
 
eh, i've heard of worse beats. that shit seems to happen all the time. my roommate is a gambling addict. make a thread when you're going up and down thousands of dollars each day.

Theres about a 3.5% chance of there being 4 cards of the same suit on

the river, 28.5 to 1. Chances of there being 3 consective cards on the

flop about 3.5% or 28.5 to 1. Chances of you hittig an open ended

straight on the flop 1.3% or 77 to 1. Chances of him getting dealt

pocket AA .4% or 220 to 1. Chances of him hitting runner runner for a

flush is 4.2% or 23 to 1.

So he has a better chance of hitting runner runner than you do flopping a straight, plus you called with J10o with the chip leader behind you holding AA. Think about this, do you really think you stand a solid chance to win this hand?

damn i feel ya man taking shitty beats is the worst.

but youre acting like apussy. it was a 6$ tourney dude. you didnt lose 1.5k like manyyyyyy others out there. you lost 6 dollars. if you cant handle loseing that minor amount of money you shouldnt be playing any game of chance.

ive droped well over a G playing for a couple of years and im not amking threads bitching about shit
 
i think the term you are looking for is, "you got fucking owned" its poker thats what happens i have played tournies with friends where the winner would walk away with 500 bucks and i have made one bad dicision and lost everything it happens whatever.
 
I hear ya man. I've pulled off some bad beats, some absolute true suck outs that fucked others over, but I hate getting them so much.

I was playin an online tourney a couple weeks ago, big payout, like 10gs for first, but I dont care about that because I'm not going to win. About an hour in, I get pocket bitches, raise it big, some fag calls. Flop is 5 Q 5. So I'm stoked as shit since I flopped a full house and I know that bastard doesnt have two 5s. So I push him all in, he calls, he shows ace 6. Turn is a 5, so I'm nervous since he has outs, but not many. River... the last 5, so his ace played as a kicker. I've probably had worse in person (just because its in person with chips and all). But went on to get absolutely fucked by some bullshit again a couple hours later when I was chip leader. I hate being chip leader or close to it.

Well, as you realize from your post the stars fucking aligned for him to beat me on this hand. And I'm sorry but having someone dominated with 20 people left and losing out on $1,500 really pissed me off. Either way, if you read my posts you will know that the chip leader holding bullets just called the blind, he didnt raise.
 
Yeah. I mean I think just the gravity of the situation mad it such a bad beat, if I beat this guy I was twice over the 2nd person in chips, it was like a little kid who's dream got crushed.
 
So he has to raise every time he has a good hand.. and yeah I guess the starts did "fucking align" for AA to be J10o.. You went in losing, and came out losing. Thats life..
 
No, he just called the blind and I also called the blind with J 10, which pays off if you hit the OESD or possibly make the straight. After the flop I had him dominated, I just got extremely unlucky. Maybe you've never watched Daniel Negreanu
 
Uhm actually yes I have, but that doesnt help you whinning case of AA winning against J10o
 
Dude, just because someone gets AA doesn't mean they automatically win. I hit the straight on the flop, and he got lucky to come back and win. Now let this thread fucking die.
