Fuck global warming...

if you don't think there is a correlation between CO2 and temperature you are ignorant. Most people haven't looked at most of the data on the topic and flat out reject it because they don't like al gore. Look at this graph, the data is taken from ice core samples in antarctica. And for anybody who throws away a theory because of one bad year, come on, really? Because the american economy is in a recession this year does that mean we have a bad economy? No.

of course there's sun spots and of course the sun affects the earth's climate but you're a fucking idiot if you believe that humans have zero effect on the earth/its climate. congrats on passing the 3rd grade.

Climatologists are in disagreement over what influence sun spots have on our climate, or for that matter what even controls the Earths climate. Unless you have some untold data you're withholding from the scientific community, I think you should shut the fuck up.

i was really shooting for 4 this year.... but no i seriously dont think humans have much to do with the earth's temperature..remember "much".

well in your last post you said "don't" instead of "much". work on your word choice. hopefully your 5th grade teacher can help you with that.

okay ill stick with "DONT

so ill let you stay on the global warming band wagon and let you give money to save the forest....you realize it used to be shit like "save the whales"...its all bullshit and all they do is rip you off....think about where everyone's money is gunna be for trying to stop global warming in like 10 years or less, its gunna be in people like Al Gore's pocket and MTV's...so go ahead and waste your time trying to stop global warming, i dont care i know its literaly one of the biggest scams of all time.

I almost decided not to reply to this because of the unbelievable amount of ignorance but i figured educating someone is always a good thing.

First of all, if you'd of actually read this thread, you would've seen that I'm not sure on my position on Global "Warming". However, I do believe in Global Climate Change. I know for a fact that we have some sort of effect on the Earth's climate, I just do not know how much of an effect we are having on it right now because to be honest, nobody really knows yet. I'm not Al Gore's bitch and I hate his use of scare tactics to rally people for change but I respect his spreading the word of caring for the environment. I hate his idea of a carbon tax but you probably don't know anything about that. I'm not trying to "stop" global warming, I'm trying to clean up the earth we live on and prevent climate change from worsening by caring for where I live. How the fuck can you say "save the whales" and "saving the forest" is bullshit? You truly are a fucking idiot. Many whale species are nearly extinct because of human activity and forest are being clearcut for so many unjust reasons your head would explode if you knew them all.

Oh, and Fuck MTV, all they do is brainwash people.

Go jump on Halliburton's big oil ridden dick and hopefully it'll land up your ass so it can stop you from talking out of it.

are you fucking serious or are you just trying to stir something out of me? i wish i knew where you lived so i could make you extinct. i mean, you are just a "fucking animal" after all....

TJ, I hope your not serious. That is pretty fucked up thinking. No matter how you look at the whale; a food source, a research subject, part of the food chain, or just a beatiful creation. Just because humans are the dominant species on earth doesn't mean we have to destroy it. Now I'm not saying we should all live in clay huts and walk everywhere but that doesn't mean we can't cut our impact on the earth. Rather you believe in global warming or not most people would agree that keeping our planet clean and healthy is a good thing.

I'm sure you meant to say "whether" instead of "rather" but other than that, that was a perfect summary of what everybody should believe/practice. This includes saving the "fucking" whales.

Word, sorry for the poor grammar. We need to find a medium between the kill thrash and burn mentality and the green peace idea of how our environment needs to be policed. A few animals will probably go extinct as the human population expands. We may need to drill oil in North America as a temporary solution until we find some EFFICIENT alternative fuels. Ski areas need to be allowed to expand and roads need to remain opened. On the flipside we need to take measures to save all that we can. Companies need to meet environmental standards and if they pollute they need to pay to clean it up.

On a side rant. Many of the laws regulating mining in Montana date back to 1872. i was amazed to find out that a mining company can stake a claim on any public or state land and purchase that land for $5/acre. Not only that but they are not responsible for the cleanup. This is a law that needs reformed. I am pretty sure that there are over 100 superfund cleanup sites in Montana alone.

not to pick and choose things from what you said cuz I generally agreed with what you said there except for this. Hundreds, if not thousands of species have already gone extinct because of industrialization. We are currently seeing one of the fastest paces of species extinction in known history.

yes I agree with you that far to many animals are going extinct. i was just stating that unless we want to start living like 15th century Native Americans animals are still going to go extinct. Lets hope this amount is minimal but as our population grows and our country progresses some animals will die out.

who said we have to live in the 15th century to be sustainable? personally i believe the opposite. if "our country" is to progress the only way to do so is in harmony with the environment. the mass extinction of species fucks with the environments natural cycles that keep us in a stable state.

i think we agree more than we disagree. i am super tired so i'm not being as articulate as i could be. you are right our country needs to progress in harmony with the environment. i am just not sure how possible that is without crippling our country. i think to a great extent it is possible to be sustainable but becoming fully sustainable is a gargantuan leap/

I think you you just don't want to admit you were wrong. But I respect that you realized you were wrong even though you didn't admit it. I'm too tired to argue now too. Argument over.

hahaha, well im pretty serious, i mean a whale? they are useless anyways, but if you said like deer or elk or something would be going extinct i just wouldnt go hunting for a few year as well as a bunch of other people...cuz we eat deer and elk, and if a cow was to go extinct we would be fucked for trying to get good beef anymore...so animals with a purpose and use i would care if they became extinct, but a useless animal i really could care less.. you can probably see where im going with this, i dont want to kill off all the animals or some shit...and keeping our planet healthy is a good thing...

there are no "useless" animals. all organisms have a purpose. haven't you ever taken biology or environmental science? oh yeah, you're still stuck in the 4th grade....

Thank you, if anyone looks at charts of the globes weather since we know of, youll see ups and downs, some warming, some cooling... we are in just in a certain part of our weather routine... by the way its one of the better seasons the east has had... plus the west is getting loaded with snow

word thats what ive been trying to say...... the weather pattern on a chart would look like a heart rate moniter..

First of all, gravity is not a theory lol. It is scientific law. There is gravitational theory but gravity itself is a law.

Ok besides, that. I think you fail to realize that charts showing ppM of particles in atmospheric layers and sea temperatures are even more scientifically irrelevant than citing isolated years. This is because all those charts and graphs you see in al gores awesome movie (sarcasm meter 9/10) and global warming essays are both logged and they start at a value greatly above the origin. Every single sea temperature reading is from 200 years and on. Now if you were to plot this years sea temerature it would look like:

But compared the grand scheme of things:

[img]http://www.brighton73.freeserve.co.uk/gw/paleo/400000yearssmall.jpg

It's negligible.

k guys, honestly, NO MATTER WHAT WE DO, the earth is fucked...

Eventually, if our species is to survive, we will have to find a way off this planet. Simple as that.

bye im going skiing :D

i just thought of something...

imagine in 20 years we FINALLY solved our global warming problem, then we lived happily for 10 years, and then an asteroid hit Earth and destroyed everything we have developed in the last 2 million years

honestly guys, stop worrying about this shit, go skiing...

First, I havent sat through the entire "Inconvenient truth" as I thought it got a little boring and had heard all of the data before in some of my classes. Second, its not just carbon I'm taking about, which is why I stated 'ppM of particles' - we put a ton of nasty shit into the air thats not naturally there, and it would be hard to believe that that doesnt effect our climate. Your graph is only carbon, whoopee.

Also, even if Gore logged his graphs as I've heard his critics cite, you still cannot deny that the oceans have been absorbing an absolute shit-ton of energy in the last few decades. As I'm sure you know, a tenth-of degree average rise in temps across the globe equates to an incredible amount of heat energy.

To be honest, I really hate how this has turned into a politically charged argument. It shouldn't be. Gore's as guilty as some of the right-wing nutcases on the other side of the fence, but this shit just sickens me above everything else involved in this topic.
