Fuck geometry.

Come on, geometry is just common sense as it pertains to points and lines... If you're writing a proof and can't think of a theorem, make one up that fits and word it well. It's probably close enough if you aren't fucking retarded.

If you can't figure out basic high school freshman math, you're fucked over for the rest of your educational life.

meh thats on par with calcI or so.

it is pretty much arithmatic with matrices except with a different vocabulary. its really useless as computers do it for you anyways

get off your high horse. this kid is bitching about how its impossible to learn and how hed rather be on ns than studying so i kinda doubt hes putting in 110%. my guess is hed rather make dumb ass threads on ns than go try it.
heads up kid, if you dont attempt to learn something its gonna be impossible.
now go fucking read a book or something.

you are all retarded. high school is seriously easy as fuck. dont give me that 'its hard for some people' bullshit either because its really just a matter of doing work, quality literally does not matter. i bet this kid never studies, never does his homework, and when he fails his tests he bitches about the teacher. and you wanna defend and encourage him? fuck that
but i guess im really just mad because i dont understand what went through this kids head where he decided to post this online. the world doesnt need to hear every thought you have in your day.

its just kids these days. they dont do shit in school then bitch and moan about the teacher or their school or their adhd or some bullshit to take the blame off themselves. sack up and do your work instead of whatever dumb shit you talk about on here and then if you still have a problem ill show some sympathy.

Kids these days should bitch and moan about school. It's a broken institution that first fails to teach kids how to learn, then punishes them when they aren't able to. A large percentage of teachers are horrible. That's what happens when there is no quality control, no mandatory re-testing of their abilities as teachers, and almost no way to fire those who are terrible at their job. ADHD is a common and real disorder that wouldnt be thought of as such if the school system wasn't entirely confined to rigid standards that treat each child of a certain age as if they were the same person. Do some people thrive in the current system? Yes. Are others able to make it through if they bust their asses? Yes. But that doesn't mean that kids have no right to complain. Just because you went along with the mental abuse of the current system doesn't mean others should have to keep their mouths shut and go with it.

why do asians do so well? they are taught the same way as all the other kids, but as a whole do much better. its because their parents put a much larger emphasis on education. THey force their kids to work hard, and nothing less than perfect.

Im not saying its the right way...but it does work

Many Asian kids do well because they're driven by similar abuse from their parents. I don't know what you're trying to say, because I already addressed how many are able to pass through school perfectly fine. That doesn't mean that the schools are doing a good job. Successful entrepreneurs rose out of the ashes of the Soviet Union. You wouldn't then say that Soviet schools were fantastic teachers of capitalism. What you're promoting when you say that the common style of Asian parenting works is further abuse to overcome a broken system. The ability of some to be successful in a certain system in no way proves that the system itself is beneficial to students as a whole. It could be argued that some, especially in the case of many of those Asian students, come out of their childhood and schooling experience far worse off than those who were supported in their individuality and allowed to grow into who they wanted to be, rather than the squares who were hammered down until they fit through the circle hole of state education.

oh shut the fuck up. thats the biggest load of trash ive ever heard. i have severe ADHD and never had a problem with fucking geometry, and neither did anyone i know. you know why? instead of sitting on a fucking skiing forum and bitching about how hard it is, i broke out the book and fucking tried it. if that didnt work, i went to the teacher. tell me youve exhausted all options, done everything you could, and still failed, and ill tell you that youre dumb. YOU CANT PUSH THE BLAME ON TEACHERS FOR KIDS FUCKING UP. man up and take some responsibility. maybe if 9th grade geometry is "too impossible" for you to learn, you should drop out of school and live on the streets cause your straight up stupid. that or you could go try it and realize its not that hard.

and btw, i recognize that there are bad teachers out there, but get used to it. when you get to college and realize that 99% of the work is on you and teachers basically stand in the front of the room and read the book, youll understand why this thread pisses me off so much.
OP, get the fuck off ns and do your homework or a bunch of midgets will come and eat your dick off. GO!

it may be broken but the point i was trying to make is this: if kids are apply themeselve, some have to more than others, all can be succesful under the same educational curriculum.

No, not every kid learns the same way, but if every kid does try to learn, i mean actually try, then they will. Its just most kids and parents dont want to put in the time and effort required to learn something that is very hard for them.

math doesn't get hard until after calc. engineers have no idea.
try taking a college analysis/abstract algebra class. those will shit in your cornflakes for real.

so essentially the same thing as grade 6 geometry. heres all you need to know, 3 sides = triangle and 4 sides = rectangle.

And my point is this: Forcing kids, or kids forcing themselves, through school inhibits mental development and limits their potential. Yes, kids are learning things. But they're not learning how to think and they're not being nurtured in areas that would be more beneficial to them. In every school in this country there's a kid being lectured about how to properly suck America's dick in history class while he daydreams about making music or art. Meanwhile, funding is cut and the child has no access to any kind of art or music instruction. Success in the current system has nothing to do with reaching one's true intellectual and/or artistic potential.

Math is hard because you can't bullshit your way through it. I took algebra in college(was supposed to take calc, but math department fucked me up and said well classes already started so sucks to be you : /) and i didn't care about it, didn't do hw,didn't study, and slept in lecture. I got a C, although that was the average. What's ironic though is in my O-Chem class I got a B+, even with the scale some 60% ppl failed it. O-Chem > Calc from what most ppl tell me too.

Math is not a subject you can just memorize(like any other real subject), you have to understand it. Just remember in college it's all about being above the average grade.
Thats my 3 cents

i very much agree with this statement. however success in the system does set you up for success in the "real world".

Artists as a whole are not succesful, while engineers, lawyers, CPA's etc are.

I guess it all comes down to how you define success. But in general, in america, we define success as economic success, and the current school system does teach how to acheive economic success.

I know what youre talking about though. I had a prof for three different engineering classes, who on the first day gave the entire class a 40 minute questionaire/test designed to evaluate what type of learners the class as a whole was. She then modified how she taught the class, and curriculum to match how the class as a whole best learned.

What the school system does teach, regardless of how you learn, is values such as if you work hard enough, you will be able to succeed.

in school math and history and english are way more important that music or art. school is for learning, not painting fruit and shit. im not saying it shouldnt be there, just that general education should be the main focus.

because college is literally 100x harder than hs? i had a 4.4 through high school and now am struggling to even keep a 3.7 so I dont lose my scholarship

my geometry 10 honors taught us nothing, we watched youtube videos and played catch phrase all bell. i taught myself it and got an A

justifications: Conclusions:1. geometry sucks 1. given2. Horrible teacher 2. given3.noboday gives 2 fucks if a is parallel to b 3. reflexive property 4. i miss easy algebra 4. x+3=75. i love newschoolers 5. given

and to tell you the truth you really dont use most of geometry at all.. Im pretty sure i havent used the "reflexive property" once after geometry
