Fuck Fedex, damaged skis

So I sent these Armada ARV's, brand new, from Michigan to California. They had clear plastic slip cover over each ski, then clear tape around both of them to hold them together. Then I put a bunch of plastic bags for cushioning, and put them into a brown ski box that fit perfectly. I taped this box accordingly.

When they arrived they looked like this....

Over where the damage was, there was a big hole, and new carboard taped by a Fedex employee.

The kid who received the skis filed a claim and was denied. I tried to file a claim but the lady said it doesn't matter who does the claim. Although I have not talked directly to the claims department. If the claims department further denies my request, I will most likely try a lawsuit, but does anyone know if a lawsuit against such a big company is even realistic to win?

probably not realistic, but since you dont have luck with fedex, try armada. theyre such a legit company im sure they can work something out.

Wow, that just plain sucks. FedEx is usually good. You really need to talk to a manager at a local shop in person. If you don't get a hold of a manager in claims you won't have any luck. As for the lawsuit, it would cost you more money in court fees alone, much less a lawyer, than it would just to buy a new pair of skis.

wow that sucks, sorry man, but i seriously doubt you'd win anything against fedex. they will just say "since it was not packed by a professional, we can't cover the damages" or something like that. did you have insurance on the shipping?

I had the skis valued at $450, which is Fedex's form of insurance pretty much. I'm gonna bitch at Fedex until they cover these skis...

companies that size would just keep you in court until you couldn't afford the fees..avoid court - legal threats, maybe.

That really sucks man, hopefully you should be able to resolve this without getting to that level.

Alright, my bad, looks like the skis will be reimbursed. There was just some miscommunication with who can receive the money after a claim is filed. For future reference, the SENDER needs to file the claim, not the recipient. FEDEX is ok, minus their shady business of fuckin up my skis.

haha.. look at the bottom ski, on the right side

ALL that silver part is damage, and then you can see the wood core too.

seriously...i mean i understand if somthin gets dropped, maybe even falls off the back of a truck, but completely trashed like that?

look at the cig pack, then look straight down at the ski. its a huge half circle shape that looks like a glare.

fed ex, like ups, uses conveyor belts to get their packages accross their buildings from the big eighteen wheeler trucks into the smaller package delivery trucks. If an edge of the box catches on the metals rails of the convetor, or another pkg gets stuck. the skis in this case would sit in one spot without moving and the belt will erode the box. we call it "belt burn" They still shouldn't have shipped that shizz along after that tho...lol

Thats hilarious because thats exactly what looks like happened. Not to mention the employee just threw some more cardboard and tape over the hole.

either that or they dish out the cash to shut you up.

goo luck with that.

wtf happened to them? they get run over?

It's more of just a cosmetic thing. They could be repaired and probably will ski like new. I don't own them though, I sold them before the accident. Most likely the kid will be refunded and get to keep the skis, I don't know for sure though.
