ohh, you've been to church once. and that makes you an expert on religion. and I'M the one being stupid and claiming i'm all knowing.
maybe i'm just unique, but the same things that my religion tells me to stand for are the exact same things that i want to live for. people don't join a religion because they need someone to tell them what to live for....they join a religion because they want to live for what that religion believes in. in my personal opinion, people of all religions should re-evaluate what they live for every single day....just like people that don't have a religion. i'm proud to say that i do that, and i remain a catholic. sometimes i live for others, sometimes i don't. the beauty of the catholic religion (or my personal relationship with my faith, in particular) is that i don't have someone telling me what to live for. i have something telling me to be greatful for what i have, something telling me to believe that i'm more than just a random piece of matter in an infinite universe, and something telling me to believe in the common good of the human being. the way i practice my faith happens to be the same way that a catholic does.
basically what i'm saying is that not all religions are based on people claiming to know everything, claiming to be the sole source of salvation, and forcing people to believe in something just because they claim to be "all knowing". i'm saying that everyone has their own beliefs, and the true religions urge people to practice them as well as constantly re-evaluate them.
and for the record, i will gladly get angry when you INSULT me for having my own god damn beliefs on existence. i'll openly accept constructive questions and even some criticism. but saying FUCK THIS EASTER BULLSHIT and THERES NO FUCKING WAY THAT JESUS WAS RESURRECTED isn't really fair.
"it bothers me that others let themselves be dictaded by belief and impose their ideologies on me"
that made me laugh, by the way.....i wish i had a nickel for every "I hate religion" or "religion is dumb" thread that i've seen on this website. but have you ever seen a "REPENT NOW! SAVE YOURSELF FROM HELL!" thread? or a "JESUS LOVES YOU!" thread?
and don't you kind of think that by making this thread, you're kind of being a little hypocritical about "imposing ideologies"?
