Yesterday on my firstd day of the season skiing at crystal mountain some friends and I were skiing through the trees and skied down to the base only to be pulled over by a ski patroler at the bottom and we were tod that our passes were being pulled because the run had been closed, but we had not seen any signs posted anywhere.

This ruined my day and wasted a combined 150$ as that was only are third run. Fuck crystal mountain no one should ever ski there.

Were you getting talked to at the base by the gondola about 3? I saw some people getting talked to and overheard something about events yesterday
 
Yeah that blows. I was the guy with the green plaid sessions jacket (benchetlers from last year) hanging around there for a few minutes
 
I'm not gonna lie it literally said kelly's gap is closed at the top of pretty much every lift...but that's real shitty dude
 
Yea a bunch of runs were closed due to preason sketchiness, and a lot of runs probably shouldn't have been opened because of abundance of rocks. Should definitely be a warning situation though. Patrol can be huge dicks at crystal, but multiple people get killed each year from going out of bounds where control work hasn't been done so it kinda makes sense, especially when they're directly liable since kelley's gap is within their ski area boundary. Somebody almost died yesterday out by lake elizabeth and it's only the second weekend.
 
this. even in full season, the places that are closed are closed for a reason. every year theres some punk that thinks they can stick waterfall and they freefall 80 ft and land on rocks coverevered by a few feet of snow and die. i get its early season and stuff, but generally the closed off areas in crystal are closed for a reason like rockface and kempers. theres plenty of backcountry and places you can skin or sled to. so give it another shot later in the season and go explore around.
 
You should've said that you were skiing in the trees above kelley's gap, and that it dropped you onto the trail. Claim you didn't cross the closed signs. Unless ski patrol saw you

same thing happened to me but it was only a 20 dollar lift ticket. Crystal patrol were huge dicks about it. I realize that people die up there but we were near the bottom in the trees and they told us tree skiing is closed early season? I don't get it haha
 
I hate people that have no respect for patrollers. Yes sometimes they may have to enforce rules and some may be dicks, but in most cases there awesome people who do more for all of us then you know. But if you "fuckn hate patrollers" then you need to mature a little bit (a lot) and earn some respect.
 
Frisco has a fucking creek running through it and a fat rope with a closed sign. If they skiied it the deserve to get there passes pulled.
 
Yeah you're an idiot. They had at least 3 signs at the top of Rex saying Kelly's was closed. It was posted on there website, and at the base. and the rope got knocked down for a few hours but it was still there. so you're just a jackass. They have it closed for gondola construction.
 
What makes you think he has any idea what kelly's gap is? I sure as hell dont know. Have fun with your gondola, maybe you can find some old rich men in there to jerk off so you can pay for your 800 dollar pass~
 
A few years ago my friends and I were skiing down forest queens and went on the knoll that is closed. The rope was knocked down, so we skied over it. Ski patrol tried to follow us, caught the rope, and ate shit so hard. And we rode away before we got in trouble
 
Welllllll maybe cuz it says in fat letters "Kelly's Gap Road" at the entrance to the road. And i got my pass in the summer for 450 soo no need for the jerk off anyways.
 
If you read the original post you would notice that we were skiing in the trees above kelly's gap so we wouldn't be able to see the sign at the beggining of kelly's gap road.
 
thats weird, did they ask for your name? they generally take a name and then radio their little head quarters to see if your name is on a list for a previous "violation" or whatever. where were you skiing?
 
they took mine and my brothers name because we had season passes but they didn't take my friends name. We were skiing under the gondola on exterminator
