acctually they do go as far in dh's... i know i have gone 130 ft in a DH race... so they dont go as high but def as far. it dosent discredit chads bec its still insane but in dh races you can go as far.

The difference here is the myoptic (look it up) view some people have about skiing...Real Skiers do it all...if your ability extends no further than the terrain park you have zero business calling yourself a good skier. I am fortunate ebough to travel alot and ski some cool hills. When you go to a place like Chamonix and ski with some locals that LIVE the sport and you see their total respect for people like HM or BM or DR and then you see them spin a cork ten on 199cm custom scott powder...it blow your freaking mind. Like hawian watermen who paddle board, kite surf, wind surf, tow surf, paddle surf....they look at high performance small wave guys as losers who dont deserve any respect....the reason, NO SOUL or DEDICATION...the same can often be said about park monkeys.

AS for money....MO MONEY IS GOOD!!! Wait until your mommy sponsorship ends, those 15,000 checks for winning a major comp is PEAnuts COMPARED to other sports....we need more money...who the fck cares about "core" core is another word for POOR...and a poor skier is a skier who does not get to go to AK!!!

 
Some of the best and styliest freestylers out there are ex-racers... and I don't get why this Bode vs. tanner thing is such a big deal...If you put Bode in the park of course he's not going to be better then Tanner but if you put Tanner into a race he's not going to be as good as Bode. They both train to be good at two different aspects of skiing. Props to both.

There's no such thing as bad snow, just bad skiers....Mt. Pilchuck Ski & Sport biatches!

I think you are knowledgable but I cant help hate your point of view. You keep thinking that your the dictionary of a good skier and that they need to do everything to be good. Good comes in a variety of ways....either specialzation of one aspect, or being very skilled and equal at all aspect but not nessacarly the best at any one of them. If you got both then you are all set. In your other posts you also said that if you cant carve a 2x4 then your not a good skier. Some people dont look at it like that...Also park monkeys have no soul or dedication???? I consider myself somewhat of a park rat because where I live we dont have much but a shitty park to session. I, along with 1000's of other park monkeys bust my ass everyday hiking a hit just to be able to stick that trick...just because it would be great. If thats not soul or dedication i dont know what is. I still agree that there are the people who know how to do everything and are amazing but if you cant do everything it doesn't make you a bad skier...maybe just not good at that aspect...while at the same time you are killing it in the pow pow. The park monkeys are killing it in the park. It sounds pretty even ended to me even though thats not the way you make it out to be.

it's not about taking sides. i think most racers are ass holes. but that doesn't mean bode isn't as good or better at what he does than tanner is at what he does. hating on another aspect of the same sport is getting really played out and it's just stupid. racers do what they do b/c they like it. freeskiers do what they do b/c they too like it. as long as you're out there having fun in the snow, getting some exercise and just enjoying yourself, it shouldn't matter. i know someone will say how can anyone like racing. clearly, some people do. just b/c you don't and i don't, that doesn't mean no one can and it doesn't mean that racers are lousy skiers. and, for the record, i'm not a racer so don't get in my face that i am supporting racing here and not supporting freeskiing or something dumb like that. ok...i'm going to go have a baseball catch now. buh bye.

I respect that...being a talented park skier is still being an athlete (no disrespect at all) and some of the best skiers in the world have come from some very humble sized hills. But there is a world of difference between being a truely great skier and a truely great park skier. I can use CR Johnson as a great example. He is a truely great skier, he knows how to ski in all conditions and all terrain. A great skier is one who knows the sport and even if he/she skis some landfill in Rhode island, they can still know the sport. The replies I see on this thread indicate a huge gap in knowledge and perspective. Its just funny to me hearing someone even try to compare what Tanner does to what a world cup champion does. Its just not even on the same planet. You can think what you want, but terrain park skiing is relatively safe in comparison to what those monsters do in europe on the world cup tour.

Much respect to park rats, its all cool as long as your on snow and having fun. I think we should all go tubing at northstar and forget about this whole who rips better discussion...

Fuck Racing period, its for panty waste losers! Tanner isnt that great of a skier either. Hes just really smooth in the air. 80% of spandex wearing racers cant actually ski down a steep line, tanner cant either, now Pep, thats a real skier good at park, pipe, big mountian, mougls everything. So all in all. Fuck racing!

Your all idiots. First off, dynarider, you shouldn't hate. But all you guys who are defending bode are just as bad. No jump on a downhill course dwarf chads. Theyr'e basiclly six inch drops. It doesn't matter how fast you hit them... the faster you hit jumps the easier they are (assuming your doing a forward straight air)... Calculating your speed for a park jump is way harder than just flying at full speed over a little six inch lip.... sure you can be dropping a hundred feet but with that much momentum and such little lip the impact is nothing... combine that with a steep hill and you got nothing on chaps or any other big back country... or reasonably medium park hit even. I personally dislike ski racers... not because they wear spandex or anything like that... i don't like them because they think they're all that when all they do is go fast. If any of you guys know ski racers (who don't freestyle seriously or switch to freestyle) are fuckin full of themselves they think they're all that... when all they can do is go fast and carve... anyone can go fast and carve.

Put any decent skier with well tuned edges on any downhill course. Sure they might not go as fast as bode but i guarentee you they will make it down. Put bode in the pipe and he won't do dick... just go up the sides and shit. Or put bode on a rail... he'll fall if it's at all difficult... or put bode off a jump and tell him he has to do a 360 (no pencil allowed) and he'll fall.

Proof that though dynarider is a hater, he's right.

I know that racing is responsible for nearly every aspect of modern ski construction because I spent the time to learn a little about how my sport and passion developed to this crazy thing we have now.

The first metal edges where developed by ski racers.

The first plastic boot was used by ski racers.

The first ski with true progressive side cut was used by Marc Giradelli in the 80s - he kept it secret by holding up a different pair whenever he was photographed.

If you even try to diss on racing i'll only remind you of how "gay" olympic aerial skiing looks...hahaha....a rodeo is just the same as a Back-Full...hahaha the swedish judge gives Tanner a 7.5 for his double-tuck-lay-full back flip.....
