FU Las Vegas - SIA in Denver

Wow, every year SIA has a survey to see asking where else you would like to see the show, and other questions on there, I never thought it would leave vegas though. Makes sense to be in Denver though, esp with the x-games dates often overlapping, Oh well guess it's time for a change from vegas, gets old after a while.........yeah right
 
That's great news for the d-town market, especially with some of the projects being built right there.
 
saves on air and hotel expenses. you still can't go, lp. so ha. unless you start being nice to me. starting..... now.

 
excuse me for not being optomistic here, but i understand "economically" this is beneficial, but it sucks overall when you put it in perspective. Look how many people come to Colorado year in year out, everyone whines about lift lines and crowds. SIA in denver is only going to make it worst. SIA was way better off in Las Vegas because it was neutral good for everyone. Here its like...well yeah there are slopes but it just is going to make Colorado a big traffic jam between X-Games/Pow Awards/US Open/and SIA. I dont know, i think its cool to have it here, but its like there is already enough, and i love Colorado and would love to see all the new gear and beable to enjoy the show by being my age which is under 21. But i really don't see a benefit as far as our skiing. instead of 15-20 min lift lines its gonna be 30-45 mins. Real Estate is gonna get driven up since all the tourists will want to buy land here. I70 traffic will get 100 times worst. Not to mention Pass Prices going up, and more PAY Parking. But on the cool side we get to see all the new shit and not have to go as far.

 
people don't come to the show to move to denver, although a boost for the housing market couldn't hurt right now. people will come here to look at the new stuff and then go back to their homes/shops in other states. when they come they have to stay in hotels, go out to eat, rent cars, and buy souvenirs for their peeps back home. this is where all of the $30 mill in revenue will come from. tourism keeps our taxes low. the likelihood of anyone going skiing during the actual show is non-existent because, duh, they'll be at the show. and if the open and the x-games continue the trend of overlapping with sia, then people will drive I-70 anyway to get there, regardless if the show is in denver or vegas. traffic already sucks on the weekends, as do the lift lines but they're not going to go away or get that much worse because sia is in denver. only about 20,000 people attend sia which is nothing compared to the 26.9 million people that visited colorado last year.

and you can go to and enjoy the vegas show if you're not over 21. it's just not as fun at night. and we have open container laws here.
 
Liz - you forgot the revenue brought in by those at the show that buy drugs and strippers, think about the amount of revenue there.
 
what revenue? the government doesn't get taxes on drugs or strippers. do strippers pay taxes? are strippers really people?
 
95% of people that go to SIA are old and could really care less about or don't even know what X-Games/Pow Awards/US Open are. Those events won't really be affected.
 
has anyone in this thread been to SIA? Half the reason it is so kickass is because YOURE IN VEGAS not the same town that most of the industry resides in. Its relatively neutral grounds for everybody coming from all over the country.

Bring SIA back to Vegas, this announcement just makes me want to go for the last two seasons before the move to Denver.
 
yeah the show is really fun the first couple of days, but you get so sick of buffets, old people decaying near the slots, bums hustling you on the streets, spending $15 for a drink, seeing escort/porn cards everywhere, walking 2 miles through the same casino just to get to the show, and paying a crap load for a taxi to and from the airport that's less than 3 miles away. everyone thinks vegas is so great, but it's really not. the show itself is a ton of fun, but vegas is actually quite depressing. the only thing it has going for it is the lack of open container laws.
