FT Flex Index

Can anyone explain why full tilt uses their own flex index and not the standard index that you see on most other boots? I feel like the more common index would be a little better when searching and comparing boots between brands.

Even though FT uses numbers like 2,4,5,6,8, and 10, even companies that both use a flex like 140 might not have the exact same flex. It's more relative to that specific brand, not all the boot brands.

With that being said. I've heard that a FT 8/10 is on about the same as a 120/140 boot in another brand.

There's an old thread about this somewhere with some pretty good responses. You should give it a search, if you can't find it I'll try to find it for you.

The 'standard' index is far from standard.

I would limit the FT's 10 to about a 110. Difficult to get a stiffer FT than most brands 110s without significant modification.

Ive also found that the flex in FT's give out a lot more than other boots. My current First chairs with a 10 tongue feel like an 80 after ~200 days
