how do you get these brake arms in a vice? i can bend all other brakes but these things are gonna be the death of me
 
there's a great explanation on TGR - you just put the brake end in the vice, heat that sucker to red hot with a blow torch, bend the whole unit up to straight, cool it with a water spray bottle, torch the new bend point to red hot, and bend it down again.
Took about an hour and a half, and it was fun as hell cuz i made metal glow bright red :)
 
right, you clamp the end that sticks in the snow in the vice, with the plastic grippy thing on it. that way you can literally grab the entire brake assembly and rotate it upwards to straighten the brake arm.
SOMEBODY BUY THESE ALREADY DAMMIT!
 
you can't take the pivot arms out of the housing without magical powers though...
fks is a different story, but pivots are notorious.
 
Well, I must be endowed from on high...

I've done it with every set of pivot brakes I've ever bent.

I also don't use a torch or any heat whatsoever.
 
yeah fks are easy for me, i got really good at taking them apart and bending and everything but i've never done a pair of pivots
 
nice! you should post up a thread on how to get the brake arms out of the pivots! although the heating method is way fun...
