This 80-200mm f2.8 AF the M/A ring on the lens ring doesn't click and lock (never has i bought it this way) but otherwise the autofocus works perfectly when its moved to the the autofocus(A) position and works fine in manual focus when its moved to manaul(M) position.

Lens has no signs of wear on the body or glass, no scratches no fungus. UV Filter has always been on the lenses for as long as i have owned it. Comes with the Filter.

Damn. I was looking at the sigma 70-200 f/2.8, but i might have to buy this. also, the pics did not work for me.

Could you post pics of the glass elements, both front and rear?

yeah i only have a front element picture right now, but i guarantee that rear element is absolutely perfect. i baby all my equipment and no one else handles my stuff, but if you really need the rear element i will get it for you tomorrow

some shots to show the quality of the pictures, last ones i put up didnt work, these files are straight out of the camera unedited jpegs

that's a great deal. If I had the cash right now I could cop this so quick. I love that lens.

It looks like there is a built in hood to me. I cant quite tell from the pics. Also, do you have the tripod collar for it, or did it not come with one?

The front element spins when it focuses. The front element is set in about a half inch behind the filter threads. You can buy mod kits to put the 70-200mm lens hood on it and it looks even iller.

The krinkle finish is the ILLLLEST too. I have the 300mm f4 and it feels and looks so much more boss than the newer finish. It's the same that's on the 16 af fisheye and the 85 1.4.

This lens is just as sharp as the 70-200. Some people like it better. This version, the D version came before the 80-200 AF-S which was completely internal but had some ghosting and build quality issues in many copies

I see what you mean by the focus ring rotates semi-internaly. But thats not a big deal. Cause it doesnt really effect the filter. Or is as annoying.

&Im not to concerned about the hood. Although most lens' look way sicker with a bayonet hood on them..

If i said all ive got is 712 available, would you take it? id really like to pick up this lens of yours. Whats the speed of the AF on it? What body do you primarily shoot with on it as well?

ok so nothing moves on this lense, zoom is internal, and focus is internal, focus is pretty fast but obviously its not af-s so its not crazyyyyy fast.

Tripod collar is on the bottom, it can rotate around the lense to any position needed.

NO hood is included because originally when you bought this lense from nikon they never had a hood come with it, everyone had to buy them separately.

i primarily use this on a Nikon D700, only reason for selling is that i upgraded lenses and no longer need this one

I was saving up for a 70-200 but this is so damn tempting. I'll have to think about it some more

same. I have heard so much good stuff about this lens.

new skis + d7000 = no cash for new lens. Good luck selling though!

only reason i am selling is i do lots and lots of sports shooting and i just wanted at first the 80-200 af-s version but then i thought i might as well jump up to a 70-200 so really just selling to re-imburse myself some of the money i spent on that.

nothing to do with quality, just af-s is really nice to have, along with 10mm more zoom for some more versatility

alright cool
I'll probably come to a decision latter on tonight, as long it hasn't been sold by then.

sorry to postwhore this thread, but i've decided i don't really have a need for it at this point in time. Someone should jump on it though. Awesome price for an awesome lens.

im doing it at well, its fine. gets him more coverage.

Anyways, one last question. Than ill make my final decision. Is there an AF override feature?

umm i believe your talking about fulltime manual focus even if its in autofocus mode, if so then no there isnt its either AF or MF.

Yes thats what im talking about. Okay, thank you. Im pretty sure ill buy it. Let me think on the final decision tonightm and ill get back to you tomarrow.

Woo, the buyer better pull through, such an awesome deal on an awesome piece of glass. It was one of my favs when I was shooting nikon, I wish I had come across a deal like this when I was buying mine. Good luck with the sale!

the can't fix the fact that then you're paying a ton of money for a lens that you can't control in camera, haha.

this. While you could get it to work just fine, you'd be better off getting a lens that can communicate with your camera if you're dropping that much money.

I'm a fan of this lens. With my D700, it's bang-er! To help you get this point accross I created this montage shot a couple weeks ago here in Toronto. All with 80-200.
