Could be But the MK1 Is Brand new retails for alot. + the Camera has less than 10 Hours. people here might think so but on skateperception.com not so much thats actually reasonable.

HOW ABOUT: 1000 $ STRAIGHT UP

I posted my MK2 on skate perception and it sold within 3 days... This will definetly sell fast. Dont think any skiers want vxk1's too film with haha

This.

It's like 17 years old now. But then again it has a handle, so it must be good...

BTW, For reference, I sold my XHA1 with Fisheye 6 months ago for 1600.

Just because you've found someone who is out of touch with the market and has thus far unsuccessfully sold their overpriced DVX in no way refutes what I previously said.

You'll sell this in a minute on skateperception, in my opinion SD skatefootage looks just as good as HD skate footage, especially with that wide-ass fisheye!!

lol vx1mk1 is a legendary setup... the colors you can get are just amazing. it blows away poser t2i setups still to this day. i used to have that with the vx21mk2 for a while before i got into photography and loved it.

goodluck with selling man!

People are always saying this about the vk1. It's always the same vague statement that the "colors" are amazing. Wtf does that even mean? How many skate filmers can even read a histogram?

Ugh, as you can tell, I've very happily left DV tapes in my past. The next time I have to upload a tape will be too soon.

I would have to agree. Whenever I see these "amazing VX1k colors" people talk about, it's just white balanced for warm and full of blown highlights. If you want to talk about legendary colors on a miniDV camera, the DVX is really the only candidate.

People trust you so little they won't even buy a hoodie off you, what makes you think they're going to give you a grand?

I don't think ns understands...

Yes this camera is almost 20 years old, and yes it also only shoots in sd, but this camera has a unique look to it. This camera is praised by the skate community and actually enjoy the rough look as opposed to a crisp image. Snowboarders are also starting to enjoy that homemade vibe.

this guy talks a little bit about this camera and why it's amazing in this video, it's also a great watch.

I've never liked it because you can get the same exact image out of a $200 miniDV SD handycam. The reason people love it is because it is an icon of skate culture, and getting identical footage out of a cheap Handycam + fisheye doesn't have the same "voodoo," which is really just a fictional construct made by people who prefer a certain piece of equipment for its secondary characteristics (in this case a phallus-shaped camera with an obnoxiously large fisheye and a top handle).

All that video did was piss me off. Some douche skate filmer praising the vx1k like it sucks his dick every night. If you want death lens, shit footage, then listen to this guy in the video.

As landis said, it has not special look, it looks like any other shitty mini-dv camera and the only "good-looking" sd camera is the dvx.

the fuck are you saying? have you ever seen vx1 footy on an actual tv before? not that youtube bullshit. the quality is great and the colors are amazing. not to mention minidv has a higher dynamic range than digital...

if youve ever used a xv1, you know its the shit. fuck that 60fps hd 1080i crap, looks good if you do it right, which like 99% of you people cant. i could name so many professional photographers who still use film over digital because of its characteristics. and no, not instagram like photos, real shit like vogue shoots and weddings.

On an "actual" tv? You mean a tube tv? who the fuck actually watches an SD tv anymore? HD tvs cost $200. That second part made me fucking lol i haven't laughed that hard since i was a kid.

I really hope this second paragraph is a joke, if not, god help your soul. Sure people still use film for photo, its so much easier to process film photos vs motion film, or else everyone would still use film. i dont even know why im attempting to repsond to you, you're either trolling or absolutely fucking retarded.

The colours are flat as shit, and most skate footage looks like it could have been filmed by anyone with a babydeath and a skateboard to follow along. And everybody knows that a lot of people shoot film these days, thank you for making an invalid point. Honestly this camera will not be used to film ski related things, and even lots of skaters are moving to HVXs/ DSLRs.

"I could name so many professional photographers who still use film over digital because of its characteristics. and no, not instagram like photos, real shit like vogue shoots and weddings"

miniDV =/= film

If you knew what you were talking about you would know that film actually has a higher effective megapixel count than digital. 8x10 sheet is like 300mp's if scanned right, 8x10 contact prints ftw! MiniDV looks like poop, it's grainy, and the highlights always get blown out to pure white when using the mark 1.

As for skate filming, it's honestly the skaters who are scared to be filmed in HD. 4:3 gives a lot more head room which is nice for lines. I personally really appreciate good skate filming, and that is usually done on a VX. The way people film lines with riders coming in and out, damn I wish more people would film skiing like that, Shane (TC) is definitely one of the only ones who gets that aspect of filming. People like Chase Gabor, SkateRat, Jason Hernandez, etc. are fucking amazing at filming regardless of what they are using.

Yeah but the frame size isn't relative, its not like the 4:3 image sees more than a 16:9 image. HD images are larger, they show more, especially with a really wide lens, like a fisheye. HD can show full 180 degree (8mm fish or 10mm fish) without vignette, its awesome. thats another thing i hated about that video was that guy was like OMG i can get so close with my vk and its like dude you can get really close with any camera and a really wide lens.

this thread is fucking hilarious.

battle of the VX-loving skateboarders vs. the people who actually know what they're talking about...

i never said film is like minidv, im saying they both have their own characteristics that make it unique and because of that professionals still use it
