the bases are diecut. Line doesn't throw away the extra material, they just take it and use the opposites on some skis. mine also have black bases and white bricks or whatever they are.

thats sick, i guess ive seen that on the eps as well now that i think about it. so they just get sent out to shops randomly with the original ones? like you just get them by chance? i dont know why i havent heard about this yet haha ive probly had like 6 different pairs of lines.
