Frozen Rail Jam Entry

alright so last year they decided to make it invite only, and that pissed me off because there was no notice or chance to register. this year i decided to be ontop of shit, so i email jon reid (event coordinator) and sent him video, results etc.

he replies by saying 'he needs official documentation from each comp i was in; via each competition organizer.' due to risk management policies.

do you know how much work that is? tracking down each organizer and then expecting them to forward results to some blue mountain event coordinator guy. waste off thier time and mine. so then i told him to just look up all my blue mtn results (him being the organizer and all) ... and he replies by saying if you don't like our procedures then dont compete ... which i think is a far statement in most situations but don't you think these procedures (if they're even real procedures...) are a little extreme...

like im registering for a little rail comp not the Xgames.

so has anyone else gone through this, let me know.

(this is why i dont ski blue)

thats blue mnt for ya, only thing i could recommend is not competing. Blues contest are usually ran poorly and little fun from personel expeirence(except triple challenge) i mean would it really be worth all the effort ayways?

Talk about shitty deals. Why the need for all the official bullshit now? That's never happened before. And why can't he go off Blue Mountain results? Anyways, despite Blue having some shitty organizing in their events (Rockstar the last 2 years running anyone?), they do put on the only high level comps in Ontario. Sucks that a monopoly like this exists, why doesn't MSLM run more skier comps? And why doesn't "The Tournament" get more hype and more riders? I know they had some good guys last year, but they also didn't bring alot of the bigger names around here.

i went to the last two tournament events at louis and they wre SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had so much fun, but then i cased the big jump in the outbaack on switch 5 and that was the end of my day

last year was the first year for "the tournament". i talked to the boys at the ski show and this year should be bigger and better!

yeah the tournament should real sick this year.  I know that sean (the guy that runs it) is working on a bunch of events.  It includes everything this year (slopestyle, pipe, moguls, skier x, and rail jams).  This means that their will be alot more prizes.  I hear that sean is working on a railam possibly in downtown toronto in front of much music studios...how dope would that be.  Im not sure when frozen is but i think there will be a jam at louis around the 8th which might be the same day.  Fuck blue, go to Louis!

mslm has always been snowboard drivin in terms of the park scene - i think thats why they have the most fun park but thats besides the point.

They only had their first slopestyle like 2 seasons ago? and it was super small, i just dont think they are all into it.

BUT this year since most of the freestyle programs are based out of MSLM their will probly be bigger events planned.

blues rules and shit are getting fucken more retarted every year. last year they wouldn't my brother who works for the barrie examier to take photo's inside the rail jam (like beside the rail) becuase he didn;t have photography insurance thats fucken stupid

Blue mountain is owned by Intrawest. Intrawest likes money. Alot. They don't care about helping out local riders, they like putting on a show that will attract crowds.

nope.

the majority of blue mountain is still owned by the Weider family. intrawest owns virtually all the property around blue mountain.

pipe munky, weider family owns 50% intrawest owns 50%.

and i fully agree that the events are now being run for the crowds and not the riders. it is a shame. anyone remember the old triple challenge rail jams, they were actually jams, no entry fee and just rad new rails and cash being handed out for tricks on the spot. that was an event for the riders, but skiing is about money now, all serious business and a deterioration of fun.

the frozen rail jam will be fun i have no doubt, and it would be good if the rails were more tech so people can really throw down shit they can land instead of everyone trying the same thing and crashing hard (like at the squire's event).

yeah that was a triple challenge and it was a rad rail jam that year, the dfd box the learning curve and the horrible kicker box.
