Frozen Battery

I have a spare laptop battery that is 'frozen' per say. That is it wont charge, it was stuck at 53% but since it has declined down to 23%. The battery wont power the laptop when its unplug (it just turns off) and it wont charge when its plugged in.

Any tricks on how to "unfreeze" it so it charges again?

eh laptop batteries are hit n miss... mainly crap. Only thing you can really do is replace it with a new.

Thanks for all the great help. But im not about to drop 150 on another one.

It has frozen before and i got it back...eventually. Apperently there are no tricks to unlocking it

i had this power drill batery once that didnt charge then i droped it onto a cement floor and now it works. so i would say. fined something hard and hit it.

Try to bash it hard at the table or something. Or drive over it with a car. Or maybe put it into a fire.

Nope. The laptop charges the regular battery fine. Its just the other one that it doesnt charge

yeah man, its shitty, but batteries do lose their charge over time, because they have a memory. The best way to avoid that from happening is to always drain the batterie completly before charging it. That way it wont develop the memory and lose its ability to retain a charge. its the same thing as with Ipod batteries...

the same thing happened to my mom's laptop... but she also refuses to get a new batterie because its too expensive.

The charge isnt gone either. This has happened before and it eventually started to charge again; it just seems frozen as it is.

And most batteries now dont have "memory" that plagued old batteries.

i just sent my laptop in because it won't charge anymore, i've tried 2 new plug in chargers and they still won't make it charge, so i finally sent it back to dell.

if your laptop is a apple they cover their battery's, i sent mine in and they gave me a new one. The downside is that your stuck with a laptop that cant go anywhere for at least a week

yeah ^^ talk to the company that makes the laptop and see about the warenttee and you might get a new batt. for free, it also might be a faulty battery

i cant use it so i have to let it drain on its own and thats like 1% every 3 days...still 23% left

Your battery is fucked. When you run anything in the cold a battery will lose its charge 2-3 times faster then in warm weather. Now if your battery is totally drained, if will gold 1/3 less of a charge then is used to be. I would just say, get a new one, and stop running it in the cold. Editing on the mountain is not a good idea.

i have no idea what i did...it just came back. but this one has taken way to long (compared when it froze before)

Update: Well outta the blue today it started working again, somehow it charged to 100% and after 2 months of it being crap, i can use it.

Verid

It recharged at 19%.

And if i send it back, i gotta mail it to china.

Damn eBay.
