Frostbite

On Saturday all of my toes got minor frostbite because my already cold boots got wet while ski touring and it took a long time for me to get back to civilization. Now I still do not have much of my feeling back and it hurts to put on my socks and walk.

Have any of you experienced frostbite/frostnip while skiing? How long was it until you got all your feeling back and could ski again?

I think I am going to buy some intuition liners, hotronics, and the bootglove, so hopefully that helps in the future.

I went to the medical clinic after skiing and sat there for 4.5 hours with hot blankets on my feet, and went to a different doctor for a checkup today. They could not really tell me too much.

Be careful. Sometimes if you get solid frostbite those areas will always be at risk.

It's sucks sometimes but you have to pull the plug and warm up once in a while. I remember one day at gore, I got out of the gondola around 7 to go down and open the parks. I windchill on that peak was -65. Probably the gnarliest cold I've ever stepped out into. On the 2-3 minute ride to cruise by the mid lodge and hit the first park a patrolled friends stopped me and told me I had frostbite on my nose. Wasn't really bad but it was like solid frostbite from a day of being unprotected in about 2 minutes of being outside. Ended up opening the parks raking everything out and spending lots of time in the mid lodge by the fire.

They have boot foot warmers and also have battery powered socks. IF it's just one time than be careful and shit, but if it's regularly occurring you gotta watch yourself.

This. You should really be careful with frostbite as it can cause long term problems and alot of pain.

the other day my right toe went numb like usual when i ski too long in the cold. For the next 1 - 2 weeks i lost a little bit of feeling in the top of it

I've got some frostbite on my toes as well, sucks balls. Spoke to my friend who is a doc and she says it's not too bad. If they start to change colour, that's when it's time to worry. I'm having a day off today, hopefully be back on my skis tomorrow.

My nose got mild frost bite a few years ago and even after just mild frostbite, my nose is the first thing to get cold/hurt now 4 years later. Be careful.

A girl that I know just passed away due to exposure to the elements. At the Snowglobe festival in Tahoe she got lost and fell into a snowbank and was not found for 3 days. Really sad stuff. The cold is no joke it will take you out quicker than you think.
