Front to backflip or reverse

i was arguing with my friends the other day, is it possible to do a frontflip off a diving board, cliff, on skis(whatever) and then stop reverse your rotation and do a backflip. or vice versa. i think it is although im sure it would be insanely hard. anybody seen it done. what'd it look like? and if anybody has a video of something like that it would be perfect

thanks +karma for vid

i've never seen it done and i doubt you could. The momentum you have while flipping is way to much to just stop and flip the other way

As far as I'm concerned, the best you're going to be able to do is throw it really hard front, open up and twist so that you end up doing some weird off-axis thing. then pull up your knees really really fast so it rotates into a side flip thing.

so really I have no idea. I'm sure its possible somehow, but really hard. The above is what I'm imagining with the knowledge base of a former springboard and platform diver. Who really sucked at it.

Why am I posting this?

standard dive list:

One meter:

Front 2 somersaults tuck or pike

Front 2 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Back 1 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Reverse 1 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Inward 1 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Front 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 1 twist

Front 1 somersault with 2 twists

Front 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 2 twists

Back 1 somersault with 1 & 1/2 twists

Back 1 somersault with 2 & 1/2 twists

Back 1 & 1/2 somersault with a 1/2 twist

Back 1 & 1/2 somersault with 1 & 1/2 twists

Divers pick 6 of these dives, 1 from each group with one repeated group.

Three meter:

Front 2 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Back 1 & 1/2 somersaults straight

Back 2 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Reverse 1 & 1/2 somersaults pike

Reverse 2 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Inward 1 & 1/2 somersaults pike

Inward 2 somersaults tuck

Inward 2 & 1/2 somersaults tuck or pike

Front 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 1 twist

Front 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 2 twists

Back 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 1 & 1/2 twists

Back 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 2 & 1/2 twists

Reverse 1 & 1/2 somersaults with 1 & 1/2 twists

This is what we physicists call an anti-newtonian.

It is basically impossible, unless you are Pep.

There are just too many variables, you would have to have every part of your body in perfect position while contracting and extending at the perfect time for optimal wind resistance.

On another note, has anyone else noticed that the GETBOARDS.COM ad that shows up near the bottom shares a striking resemblance with GETBOARDS.CUM?

theres a old school trick called a vinous fly trap i think where you do a front flip 180 to a back flip of the outher way around.

an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force. so if you are flipping forward you will keep flipping forward unless you apply an outside force, good luck

yeah my friends throw those off the board all the time, but i mean the amount of time you would need it would be unlikely, considering on the JOI jump doing a switch 90 to oppo 270 was just barely doable by pep

not at all what hes talking about there was no stoppage of rotation there what he's saying is totally stop and flip back the other way not just 180 to change direction of flippage and keep going

ive been trying to do a frontflip to backflip off my diving board, next time i try ill see if i can film it, cuz i think i can get it now....its weird, cuz once u fornt flip u gotta like turn and then use all ur mometnum and try n backflip

this may not be a front to backflip but 6 front flips is pretty impressive. look at how fast he spins!

i think if you start with a frontflip .... do the frontflip and right before you have done one full flip twist to get yourself 180 degress then throw body back and tuck in a ball and do your backflip

not possible, although one time i did a gainer into a foam pit and overrotated, and was flailing then somehow ended up going forward and landed almost on my face.
