First off, I would like to point out that im not even a Christian. However, I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, where there is, quite literally, a church on every street. Ive grown up going to church every Sunday, and Ive been extremely involved in the church's youth group in the past. About 80% of my friends have done the same, I know very few people who are atheists.
But, like you, I see many flaws in Christianity. I didnt like being told how to live, and, being obsessed with science since a young age, the bible stories never made sense to me when i was younger. These, along with many other "flaws", disproved Christianity for me at a young age.
Not religion though. Every religion I can think of bases itself (or used to) around the same thing: there is a higher power of some kind, and love is good.
I believe that there is a "higher power", but in my opinion it is something to do with the most fundamental laws of physics. Religions are based off of this "power", whatever it is.
Read the bible. Many of the messages and lessons in it are the exact same as the ones in self improvement books, the exact same as the ones preached by Ghandi, MLK, Mother Teresa, or whatever other world-changing person you can think of. "religion" is onto something, whether you (or the people who believe in it, for that matter) realize it, no matter how much the message may be con strewed by thousands of years of bullshit.
My point is, you are not better, or more intelligent than someone because you aren't religious. People bashing Christianity tend to be the same ones who preach tolerance, so please, do that.
