Friendships

A few of my friends just graduated, some closer to me than others, and now I'm beginning to wonder what's going to happen to our friendships. Also, when I graduate, what's to say that I'm even going to *want* to keep in touch with everyone I knew when I was in high school?

I'm worried that my friends who graduated aren't going to want to hang out with a grade eleven. I mean, they'll all be able to legally drink soon, so they can go to bars and clubs, and I won't be able to do those things for a while.

For the people here that have graduated, or have been in similar situations, because I imagine most people have, what happened? Did you lose touch with your high school friends?

I really don't want to lose contact, but a lot of my friends are going to out of province universities, and moving away... It'll take two people to keep the friendship up, and will we both want to spend the time and effort?

i made friends with kids on my trip to china, they were all college kids or out of college and starting theyre lives, and im keeping in contact with them with IM and email, i got to be good friends with this one girl, shes 26, and i hope i keep in contact with her for a long time, she was pretty cool.

Yah. I left high school and home and went to a university about 2500kms away. I had a lot of friends in high school who've some moved away and others stayed in the same city. I now keep in touch with none of them. I found that I went to university and made great friends with all these rad new people. I ended up looking back and thinking, whoa, I hung out with those guys, weird. I still keep in touch with some of my better friends like my kayaking mates who're all like 25, 26+ and stuff like that, they're cool guys that I do want to keep in contact with so yah, just see what happens.

I talk to my really good friends from highschool, but I have better friends now (not you Matt, you're a jerk!). You'll forget and not even care, basically move on. It's part of life, and not really something worth stressing about.

yeh ill probably still keep in touch with like my best friends, about 3-4 of them i think, but yeh. i know alot of guys though that are older like around 20 or so and they are so much cooler, hanging with them is so much fun. but i still have two years of high school left so im not gonna worry or care about this shiz.

i wouldnt worry about it. if they are really friends then you will make time and they will make time to see you. after graduation ive found out you figure out who your true friends are, cuz those are the people you still see. i was worried when i graduated too but all my good friends are still exactly that, and ive seen them a ton this summer too.

After my first year of college I'm still pretty close with my real good friends, and I hang out with other high school friends sorta by default cause my college friends don't live anywhere near here. It bugs me sometimes how it seems my high school friends are only concerned with abercrombie and looking cool; proud of being preppy-gay ish. It's annoying but oh well. I know there'll be at least one or two I'll stay friends with through college for sure.

Don't most people worry about life? I always have, and I'm pretty sure I always will.

Commencement is tonight. I'm getting picked up in twenty minutes. It's so final.

I've been thinking about it a lot, and I think my friends and I have strong enough friendships to make it through this. I mean, it's sort of similar to when they went to highschool, and I was still stuck in elementary. Whoa.. That was a while ago.

Oh, and I *would* get a fake ID, but no one would ever believe it. I'm nearly sixteen, but I constanly get confused with twelve year olds. It's annoying. I want to look my age. Maybe, when I'm a lot older, it'll come in useful that I look younger? lol

never ditch your real friends...those're the one who drive hours to see you at another school or the ones who still talk to you on aim from 3000 miles away. i still hang out w/mine when i come home...of course we sit in super walmart's throwing fruit down the aisle at 3 am...but its no different than when i was in high school

life is all about moving on and trying new things..meeting new people. I wouldnt continue to hang on to old frinds...id miss em...but id also be happy to find new ones in a totally new environment!

After commencement last night, I was talking with two of my best friends. We've been close friends since I was six, and we've gone through a lot together. I mentioned something about, 'You guys owe me for this! You'll sit through mine, right?' and they were like, 'Amy, we'll be in University. I don't think we'll be able to make the time. I mean, in two years it'll be a lot more serious for us that it is for you to come to ours now.' It was so messed up!

i had a bunch of friends go into 1st yr college this year and they totally changed. they completly changed as people and it wasnt cool. I figured out who my real true friends are and thats just part of growing up and maturing. Your high school friends shape who you will become and they help shape you as a person. University/College turns you into an individual and strenghtens the ground work that was done during high school.

darryl... many people think about life and whats gonna or might happen. so dont be a bitch to people who like to plan things out and have an idea of what is going to happen and know how to deal with it. not all of us are like you, dont give a shit about anything. just play it how it comes.
