racers eat ass. you need to get the fuck away from our sport. FIS rules?? FIS is the enemy of freeriding assbag. skiiers like you give all us real freeriders a bad image. you need to either keep your shit on the race hill, or mogul run, or gay arial jump and plow your ass into some stupid fucking flags, or man the fuck up and ditch that shit completly. dont let yourself think that just because you rip through the park and straight air a hit with your racing gear in your spare time between looking like a jackass on the hill that you are a freerider. RIG UP OR FUCK OFF theres no place for racers and FIS shit in our sport

did anyone know that they have world cups this year for halfpipe? FIS is in charge of the events...there' 3 of them one in switzerland, one in france and the finals in italy at the 2006 olympic site.

not for nuthin,, but this sport,, our sport has been built on racing, it in many ways is responsible for not only the progression of skiing but of skis to

snowboarding on the other hand sucks no matter what

 
the way I see it, this sport is made up of many different types of disciplines, and all are based on teh same fundamentals, just tweaked differently for different disciplines. People should ski how they like, be it racing, cruising, big-mountain, park, and the list goes on, but the important thing is that as the sport develops more disciplines it will inherently attract more people, who in turn will constantly advance the sport.

Ok, so maybe a racer can't do anything more than straight airs in the park, at least they are in there and trying something that may be new to them.

If you don't like racing, don't race, but don't give people shit based on the fact that they race.

teh thing i hate mos about newshoolers is how they dont respect ski racing. FUCK ALL of you fucking park rats who cant even fuckin ski and cuss out racers. get a fuckin life. Any fis racer can ski better than anyone on this site, and i know alot of racers that can show up more than 3/4 of teh people on this sight.

I think FIS may suck for park/pipe. They actually do a pretty good time with organizing racing and shit, but in my oppinion I think that is what they should stick too. the allure of delving into park/pipe skiin is simply money. the more events they can hold means more money for FIS. damn greed....

FIS is fine for racing...but I'm not sure it would be a good thing for freeride. No offense to racing or racers (one of my best friends is on the US team) but FIS being involved in freeride does suck. Too many rules that impose upon our way of life and the artistic/style side of freeskiing. If we start putting exact numbers on each trick it hurts everyone's ability to display their own style in a competition. Look at what happened to freestyle.

As far as the message that guy sent to Alpentalik.....wow...chill out. You don't know him, why he has that icon, or if he's even serious. Getting that pissed over someone's icon seems to be a result of having nothing better to do. Grow up.

personally i think anyone can learn to race in under a season freeriding takes more balls more confidence and a little thing called skill BUT seth used to race and look at him now he is the god of 80 foot backs racing still sucks

all the time I read things about people that ski in the par all suck at skiing in general. Just becasue you ski park and have no racing backround doesnt mean ur not a good skier. Who doesnt ski park when its a regular sunny day with no powder? would people rather ski groomed runs all day just to prove they are a good skier. Who doesnt go ski pow or build a jump when there is powder? everyone basically I dont see many people in the park when there is powder. Plus if you live in Jackson hole, Whistler, or other places like that you should be a good big mountain skier becasue its there. Many of us dont have steep runs or nice shoots at our mountain so we dont have as much experience. you ski the way you like to ski, so dont bag on other people for the way they ski...its like every skier out there is a threat to everyone elses ability.
