Friend Paralyzed, Please Help

Just read the site. The story is almost unbelievable. I'll donate when I get my next paycheck cuz money is a little short right now. Vibes to your friend.

I need to Donate ASAP. Vibes. Really puts my day in a newer perspective.

holy fuck what an un lucky thing to happen. major vibes man

On the night of June 30th at around 9:45PM Eli Ramos, Steve Mink, and myself were listening to music on our 2nd floor back balcony when the railing collapsed and plumitted Eli and Steve to the ground. Unfortunately the two landed on some scattered cinderblocks which created an even higher risk for serious injury. Steve was able to leave the ER with 19 staples in his head with a broken rib and sternum, while Eli stayed for further testing. The fall resulted in the fracturing of Eli's C6 and C7 vertebraes in the neck which have left him a paraplegic with some mobility of his arms. Eli is currently at the Albany Medical Center in an Intensive Care Unit recovering from his emergency surgery that succesfully realigned the two verebrae and released pressure from nerves in the surrounding area. His medical bills are rapidly stacking up and will continue to do so as he must be transfered to a hospital in New York City to be closer to his family. This ambulance ride alone will cost thousands of dollars. While Eli and his family stay strong during this tough time, emotional support is just not enough.

+vibes! One of my little brothers old friends got into a dirtbiking accident a few months back and broke his neck too. Kid is 15 and completely paralyzed from the waist down. They're working on getting a site together to gather donations for a trust fund for him, because the accident happened at a friend's house. The family doesn't want to sue their friends for the accident, but they may have to so they can afford to remodel their lives to suit the wheelchair. Thank god for Canadian healthcare because these people would have been fucked so hard if they had to pay for the medical bills.

Update: The University we go to has an on campus student run ambulance service. They gave him a free ride to NYC so he can be with his family, and hopefully get the best treatment!

Thanks for all the vibes, and if you can donate, please help him out, even if it's only $5!

And people are against socialized medicine because... why?

Donating adds up, especially if he's got a great family and community behind him.

so unfortunate, just makes me think how valuable life is, and even though we all go through hard times just think about how lucky we are to be walking and living. I hope your friend is doing well.

:( stories like this make me take a step back and realize how good i really have it and how incredibly unfair life really is...hopefully things improve for him.

I'm really sorry man, thats a horrible thing to have happen. I hope he can tough it out, I've been in a situation rather like yours... but i never saw him breathing. but another story another day. Vibes to you both and prayers

My buddy's dad is going through treatment to regain use in his legs, he broke his neck in a backyard hockey game. There's a video of his progress on youtube, if I find it I'll embed here... Best of luck to your friend and his family though, maybe he'll read this thread and see some NS support!

Broke his neck in a backyard hockey game?!?!?! Thats terrible. No idea how something like that can happen, makes you wonder about god, life, and risks that you take. Vibes to anyone and everyone affected.

VIBES all good people deserve good things, karma will reward him and yourself. im sorry to hear about this, i wish you and him the greatest recovery possible.

Yeah, and ecb's friend's story is really similar, just hangin out and some freak accident happens, nobody could expect it and its shitty overall

Vibes! It's always crazy to think something like that can happen to anyone, even if you're not doing anything crazy.

I'll let him know how supportive you all are, and to anyone who donated, thanks!

Just to clarify, I was not with him at the time this happened. I have been to his house many times, but I was in Russia the time this happened.
