so yah last sunday, it was the last day of the week... everyone was like hell yah its friday nor work after today for 2 days... then at around 9:00 AM something happened that would change one of my friends lives forver he hit about a 60 spine and cought his back edge and slammed into the ground about 3/4 of the way to the bottom of the landing... when i heard about it over the radio(i work up at the hill and so did my buddy) i thought to myslef Holy shit this is not good news... the head of ski patrol told me to grab the big red pack and bring it straight down(i even remember going up the T switch)... so when i arrived at the top of the Tbar i grabbed it and wend down... all i remeber hearing over the radio was that he fell on his back and that he was bleeding from his mouth. I didnt know that he couldnt fel his legs, and one thing that gets your emotions is seeing one of your friends lieing on the ground saying he didnt want to come to work today hearing them say "I never wanted to come to work today, i should have stayed in bed this morning like i wanted to" is something that just sticks in your memory... life is so preciouse that one little mistake can take someones legs away from use... I'm not absoloutly posative that he is completely paralized from the waist down, but when someone says they cant feel their legs from the waist down its not good, especially when thier pelvis is in an intense amount of pain... its so harsh when someone as young as 19 can lose thier legs on a board(i know he's a boarder, but thats not the point) has anyone ever known someone that has lost the use of thier legs.. and how did affect thier life.. and thier friends and crap.. cause like i dunno this is just something i cant really just turn my head away from... so yah peoples thoughts... comments

sorry to hear that i hope hes ok. i sometimes forget how dangerous the hill can be after hitting jumps smoothly so many times. 1 wrong move and you can be in big trouble.

best of luck...guy i know who works ski patrol at a hill by me was telling me about a kid who was hitting the pipe and one of the lips was poorly cut and he ended up landing onto his back with his legs on the deck and his head over the lip and he ended up being a quadrapelidgic(sp?). Him telling me the story made me cringe and i had no idea who this guy was and couldnt imagine if it was someone i knew personally.

Good luck Man definitley giving good thoughts towards your friend. It is so hard to deal with injuries like that when they happen to a close friend. Just remember that a spinal chord injury isn't a death sentence.

wow that sucks, a lot of the time people can regain feeling in their legs after a day or two. hopefully he makes a full recovery, sad to hear

dude i hope hes alright.

but yea my grandfather at the age of 50 got paralizes from my his waist down. it was very hard for him at the start but now hes a the electric wheel chair, he gets around fine. the only thing is he has a hard time getting around the house becuase he needs ramps for his wheel chair, they dont have the money to do it so its really hard. but he still manages to work it out.

that's awful, but stay optimistic. I know someone who had a huge crash, shattered a vertebrae, but had reconstructive surgery, and he's fine now. When he crashed he couldnt feel his legs either. Also, hearing that your paralyzed is not always a lifelong sentance to a wheelchair. There have been a lot of people who were told they'd never walk again, and managed to make a full recovery. Be there for him, and help him through this if the worst happens. Good luck to him, sending huge vibes his way.

yeah it sucks so bad when people get seriously injurred doing the thing that they love. In the span of under 2 weeks, a guy was killed here at 7 springs after hitting a snowmaker, and then a kid is now a quad, after landing on his head and next doing a misty.

This kid in my class woke up easter morning and he started screaming that he couldn't feel his legs and now he's paralyzed from the waist down.

hope your friend gets better.

i also hope that you learn to use paragraphs to your advantage. that shit was hard to read.

yeah that is some house shit right there he can solve it.

but seriously that is like the biggest danger about skiing/boarding, there is consequences to going big. really hope he gets better.

ok so i got some news today.. apparently he's in van right now and i dunno if he can feel his legs or not, cause I got soo many different stories from different people... so i dont know what to think... one thing i heard tho was that he might have pinched a nerve so he may have to get some surgereys(sp)... but i dunno i gotta find his GF's number to ask her, me and her go way back and i know someone that has the number, but if she doesnt know whats up then, i dunno... but all i know right now for sure is that he's pretty fucked up and if i win this lottery thing thats gonna be drawn tonight or maybe tomorrow, I'm gonna buy him a sit ski and one of those wicked rascals and shit. you know help him out as much as i can. and maybe the first chance i gt to we are going to have to party it up with him... help him forget the newly... i dont want to say problem... although it is, I'd like to say obstical he has to overcome... and not just him, everyone is just upset about the situation... my boss today said that he had to have a safety meeting with Ian(head ski partol) and well he came to where i was working right after the meeting and he was not in a happy mood he had to go get a cigar to calm himself down. he only made it half way through before he started to cry... and i know why, in my mind that being paralized is almost as bad as dieing... but i dunno... thats also what he said.. i couldnt imagine myself paralized... but yah if you guys want i can throw a video of the guy him hitting this drop we had behind our lodge, before ski partol fenced it up. oh and before i forget i over heard today that Ian was going to try to take out the spine we have in the park.. either that or just make it unclearable like so you can hit it but just land of each side. and i know it may not make alot of sence, but try reading it twice... and if numerouse people want me to re-type it i'll do that, and in a couple mins i'll post that video...

wow your soooo tight man, we all respect you for being sooo tight, man your awesome

sike that was the gayest thing ive heard and i hope you get kicked in the jaw with a steel toed boot
