I am glad to hear everyone is stoked about FRESHtival

To answer a few questions:

The Rail Jam is by invitation only. With guys like Tanner, Iannick, Bushfield, McMurray and others it will definitely be cool to watch. The jam winner will get $1000.

Tickets will be available at the door if we have them. With the response we've had so far, I think some nights will sell out as there are only 350 tickets per night.

The shows will start around 7:30 and run til about 9:30 - 10ish. Show up early and check out some of our suppliers displays.

For those of us that are 18 or older, there will be some 'after movie events' each night.

While I understand your disappointment. The event is a jam format and it is on rails so I thought a rail jam was an appropriate description. As well, I don't think its a demo because it is a competition.

Because this is our first rail jam, its in October (where we aren't guaranteed natural snow), insurance costs are extremely high and there are time considerations, we have to be realistic with what we are trying. Of course we'd prefer an open comp, but it just doesn't seem feasible this year.

We have local guys competing and a waiting list for others. If you want to be considered for invitation, you could just ask.

 
Most professional events including the X-games and WSSF big air are invitational. This event is something new for us and will take alot of time, work and money to put on. I would rather make sure its successful before we make it a big open event.

I'd also like to keep the calibre of the skiers high. So far, most competitors are all nationally if not internationally sponsored skiers. Insurance is costly and we can't afford to have someone show up, not know what they are doing and get hurt.

So far I have had one person approach me on how to get into this event. If you want to compete, why not provide me with your skiing resume, talk to me, and I'll see what I can do. As well, if you have suggestions on how we can make this event better why not let me know?

 
I think that Calgary needs to realize what Fresh and the jolly guy behind it have done and are still doing for skiing around here. Seriously.

ya. It sucks its not open but give fresh a break. i mean it is the first time having something like this. And i'm sure it wil be really cool anyway with tanner and such. Anyword on what rails they will use. They should definetly have just a down kink so tanner can do his switch 450 on. and a original tough rail that is just tough to do on its on. I can only make it on saturday, but at least that is the best day

 
No, that's cool. But Line put on an urban jib session in Burlington in Vermont, and everyone and anyone could go. Snowboarders too. There wasnt even a sign-up. Just some rails, a DJ, some snow and alot of stoked people!

Dude, just got my tickets today! 3 day passes! Its gonna be sick. On thurs friday and saturday. do we go right to the orpheous theatre right at 6:45, or should we go to fresh at 6:45, Freshie?

I expect the rail jam to start at 4:00 on Saturday. I will know the exact location this Friday. The doors open at 6:45 at SAIT and the movies will start at 7:20. We will have autograph sessions at the store on FRI and SAT and I will post them here and on our site.

We won't be selling anything at the Freshtival but have a mini ski show going on.

Friday night was pretty fun. Focused was pretty good. Versys was a little too long for being pretty much an all park movie. Plus the editing was overdone, and the french rap was aweful. but other than that, it was good.

Man its was awsome, Tanner won the watch but gave it to some little ripper instead......tanner threw a 630 which was crazy. The movies were awsome tons of sh*t that was given away.
