This is the first FreshTip railjam open to skiers in like 3 or 4 years, so I am stoked to say that on Feb. 20th, 2010 Madison is going to go off.

This event will be held one block from the capital, which is the background for the event, it is the main entertainment for Saturdays activities and we will be bringing in 10 dump truck loads of snow. The setup will consist of 2 down rails that are 34' long.

Scion's Downtown Throwdown will consist of a beginner/ am contest in the morning for both skiers and snowboarders. registration will begin at 9 am and the contest at 10:30 am. There is a Women/ Girls division as well for all you skier chicks! There will be prize packs for the winners of this division.

The Open/Pro division is where the cash is at. There is only 150 riders allowed in the division due to timing issues. It will be open to the first 150 riders (snowboarders and skier), i am working on online registration. The total purse will pay out at least $3,000, however that will be split inbetween skiers and snowboarders. I.E. if there are 75 skiers and 75 snowboarder each divison would get 1500 to split up. That would come out to 750 first, 500 2nd, 250 3rd. If there are more skiers than boarders the skier purse will be higher.

Registration is @ 1:30 p.m.

Comp @ 3:30 p.m.

more details to come. keep posted. get hyped!

Stay up,

Dougy

Here is the updates for ?'s

There are not two of the same features: one is a 34' handrail (2" stock, 36" tall, will be sett just like a street rail. There is also a step box, 34' long, 12" wide on bottom step, then raises 4" and is 18" wide on top. If you look at this video feed it will show you what this whole thing is all about!

Bfilm, do you plan on competing, would love to see that, cause there is no prize money for edits?!

By the way, I am doing this for the skiing community, In turn i would like to see some support, or these opportunities will not be availible for us two plankers. If no one shows, thats cool, but i will pretty much throw in the towel on chasing future ski comps. Belive me this was not easy to put together, if it was i am sure there would be legit rail jams everywhere for skiers to compete in. sorry if that sounds bad, but if you know anything about me and freshtip design, you will understand.

Check the video, the set up will be almost idenical. except that skiers will be allowed

let me know if anyone else needs any info

Also this is setup on the steps of the capital of wisconsin, How many times are you going to have a chance to actually compete in a urban railjam that is worth a shit, with a dope ass backdrop for photos and not have to be invited. This is the first open skier comp that i have ever thrown in an urban environment

Why would I compete in one of your snowboard rail jams. Thats where the prize money goes anyways right. Last event you had here, Massacre on a softball field, one of your team riders won, "cullen" didnt even get the prize money.
I don`t do comps so...nice knock there.

I`ll take care of my self Doug, you take care of yours..

this is a edit of the softball feild event Bfilm was too good to shoot, so my extra rad homie put this together. That event was rad as damn, and you dont know shit if you dont think so. My guys spent days on end building a that setup. That by far was the greatest failure I have ever expeiranced. I failed on the account of making money, to let everyone in on it, I spent well over $5,000 of my own money to be able to put it on, which was dumb because i knew I was in no way shape or form going to make it back.

But if you took the time to watch it, I am sure you would hit it iof you had an opportunity. Even if it cost $25. Shit movie premiers cost 6-10. $25 to maybe win money, and be able to get pulled into a flatland 45' booter thats over 30' tall by a motorcycle winch, a cannon box disaster, acid drop, fish house gap, wall ride, shit thats better than most parks. Like I said , this was my greatest failure and I got mad props for any riders that came and were a part of it.

Now to the paying cullen prize money. To my memory, everyone was paid for the places. The prize money was nowhere near expected due to the weak turnout, the purses were not large. If I am wrong, cullen please let me know. And i got this crazy feeling criag won.

Just to let everyone know, Mikey Dannenbring was the snowboard winner and he didnt get paid to much either.

Bfilm, oh the EGO you have. One day you will wake up and realize that when people try to give you opportunities, it is wise not to shit on them. I really remember trying to help you back in the day when you were starting your filming business..

You film riders. You let them know how great you are, and how famous you are going to make them, and then throw all these crazy ass rules and mind games on them. I respect that you have a passion to get the shots done and are into the filming. What I am lacking to understand is how your passion is so much greater than ours to build rails, parks, comps, winches, setup photo shoots and have our productions going.

Thats how you got into the industry bfilm, you got to get up in our helicopter and captured some footy of our "comp", meet a bunch of the good riders that we attracted, and put an edit together for the sponsors. I even paid you with a jacket and skis if i remember right. Thats how you pitched your film, With the footy from our event. I am stoked we could provide that opportunity for you and that you capitilized on it. I would think you would have learned that rail jams and comps are needed to keep the pulse, just like films and photos. A balance is needed, or we are all going to end up like rollerbladers, i promise no one wants that. Any true froot booters know what i mean.

Also, What gives you the right to try to instigate shit talking and trying to get riders to not be down with us whenever we setout to do something. It's like you just get off on talking shit about us.

Thats cool but i dont show up at your video premier and go talk shit to everyone, or go tell the sponsors how much better my company is than yours. I have ethics, try my best to stay within them. I also dont get on a bunch of forums to bash an event i am not going to even attend.

I am not trying to bash you bfilm, i am trying to give you a reality check. Dont try to stand in the way of others skiers that have an opportunity to get in on a real rail jam.

Hey doug...i did shoot it. I shot my friends that were there. But it was tough you see...your winch`s kept breaking down and it was tough for them to get hits.
And I have shot and gave you footage since midwest massacre 2, and attended everyone I could since then. Everyone including the riders worked their ass off. I have never said different, nor taken that away from you.
I was there for all of them..ski, snowboard, wakeboard, even tried to lend a helping hand when ever i could. But, after you gave the cash purse away to a snowboarder on the ski comp day i just lost a little interest.
Hope the comp goes well for you and all involved, we do need more comps around here.
Like I said tend to your business, and I will tend to mine...

to end my night of doubling my newschoolers post.

In order to have a large purse for skiers, skiers need to attend. Thats where the prize money comes from, the entry fee.

Its kinda like the lottery, if only 15 people played, do you think the jackpot would pay millions.

Now we are not going to pay millions but we will bee paying 100% of the entry for the first 100 riders in this event in order to provide the described purse.

So I hope to see a bunch of stoked riders out there sat.

Ok this is getting a little ridiculous. I know that no one cares what im about to say but im saying it anyways...Doug- Ive heard from many skiers and snowboarders that there has been problems with the rail jams in the recent past. Ive also heard that you have done some pretty good rail jams too. However, admit that you have fucked up sometimes like everyone does. Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone tries to blame there mistakes on others and tries to cover them up. Admit it, move on and stop saying shit didnt happen. And then im sure you can do a good rail jam like they used to be. Also, you were the first one to bring to start up with bfilm..why didnt you start on hickey too or the others that commented negatively on your forum.
Bfilm- Let it go and walk away. Things happened in the past leave them in the past.
Both of you- This is newschoolers. If you want to go at it call each other or meet in a back alley way somewhere. Im sick of this shit.
P.S -Doug next time you come over please do not wipe your fucking dirty fingers on the white table cloth at my house. We have only met one time and that was extremely disrespectful and if you dont know what im talking about ask colt.
Now both of you stop it!

See but since you have been filming midwest massacre for so long you would realize that it is a ski and snowboard competition. There is prizes for both.

Skiers got paid in the same percentages as Snowboarders. There was just more snowboarders, hence snowboarders getting more money. Can you imagine how bad you would have thought it was if there wasnt the snowboarders? there would have been 14 people. 14. Sorry there was two separate comps with two separate prizes.

We are not socialists. We pay out what comes in. if there is more snowboarders, simple math will tell you they would get a larger purse.

I will go back to the words Greatest failure, did the winches run 100% on time all the time? No, do you have any winches that pull you at 55mph? The take a while to fine tune. That was a wonderful experiment, I love that you can find no good in it what so ever! Because again it was the greatest failure I have ever had.

There was shit everywhere to hit, even without the jumps it was worth it, but i guess we see things differently, so I will continue tending to my business, just try to stay out of it

Are you serious Doug, you are trying to throw a comp and you take time to talk shit to me. When you say that you gave me a chance you forgot to mention that you lied to me saying that you would get me money for working my ass off for shooting a comp for you and turning it over into an edit within a few days while i was moving out to Montana.
I DONT NEED YOU TO SUPPORT ME DOUG, never did!! I lived in Montana long before i knew you and made every connection i could, trying not to burn any bridge i could working my ass off. Along that whole way when did i ever say I was going to MAKE SOMEONE FAMOUS?? or promise them anthing.
What I dont have respect for is you not having a ski comp for how long around here then show up post this shit on the forum and then turn it into talking shit about me.

Goghergirl, I am extremely sorry for fucking up your tablecloth, totally out of line, I dont think I did anything intentional. But I am sorry to cause you that stress.

Bfilm I am done on here, she is right, This can be settled outside the website bullshit. Your roommate has my number, or i can get your from him.

But for the record, no payment was ever discussed for your filming, My crew doesnt even get paid, and I have never even been able to pay rt anything, so I know that I would have not promised what I know I could not deliver.

This is the last post I will do on the thread that in any way goes at bfilm, if anyone needs anything for info let it be known, i will respond with the needed details.

daaaaamn i really want to come to this, i've gone to the capital square rail jam the past 4 (maybe 3) years and it's always really fun, despite the extremely sketchy set up (last year, holy shit) and lack of sponsors

this year looks and sounds like it's gonna be a lot more fun, but i'm gonna be at granite peak! can't complain with that

Skiing is fun! This thread however is lame as hell. Grow up. most of the arguments on here are between 16 year olds not grown men older than 25.

The last massacre at buck hill was maybe the most legit competition ive ever entered in the midwest. Hopefully this rail jam goes off just as well.

^I agree. And I hope the rail jam goes off well. Skiing needs good comps. My roomate puts alot of work into Freshtip and I hope everthing goes well in Madison. It will only help the community if it does

agreed. that was one of the best comps I have every been to.
check the old a-crew edit we did!

It was a fun comp, just wish there were some more skiers there, I will have a little video of it up within the next few days.

it was alright.. down box was set up like shit.. but it was still fun i guess.. not worth the 30 bucks but not the worst comp ever, but i have to say a judging could have been better.

nice edit matt. comp looked pretty cool, the snowboarders looked preety weak to me from the footage, nice work to freshtip
