Freshman Housing at CU

Alright so I was accepted to CU a couple weeks ago and now I can finally apply for housing. I have a few friends that know a few things about some of the dorms.. but I would love NS's input.

I am going to be in the engineering school (aerospace to be exact). So probably most of my classes will be in the engineering school, maybe some in the physics building too. So i would enjoy being in a dorm close to both buildings... I would much rather be close to my classes than town, so I'd rather walk 5 minutes to class and 20 minutes anywhere else than the other way around.

Most important point (dont want educational housing or whatever), wanna have fun as fuck.

Input fellow CU'ers / NS'ers???

If u want to have fun, DONT stay in the engineering quad. the main campus dorms are literally right next the to the engineering ones (50 feet away). You want to live in Farrand, Libby, Baker, or Cheyenne Arapahoe in that order. those are the nicest, biggest, and best party dorms on campus. All of the on campus dorms are less that 10 minutes from your classes and the Hill so dont worry about that.

Nice, exactly what I was looking for.. and yea everythings pretty close anyway, but im still a newbie so any extra info I can benefit from is sweet.

+k to both

Anyone going to boulder next year?! I think it would be fuuucking dope to room with a NS'er.

anyone been accepted that wants to room?

-smoke weed

-obv ski

-drink a lot

-COD MW2

-ur not a douchey mc douche douche

-very chill

-aerospace engineering

-dont snore

i havent heard back yet but im looking to go to boulder next year. i applied a while ago - december 3rd - but just got an email saying they recieved my app so it might be a while before i find out. hopefully its soon so i can get all the housing shit figured out

Yea, its important to apply early too...

Oh and anyone know about the RAPs (Residential Academic Programs), and if they are worth it? Like the only way i can apply to be in Farrand hall is if I do a rap???

word. i missed the early deadline by like two days. didnt think it was gonna be too much of a problem but i guess i was wrong

from a baker hall veteran:
the probability you'll find a roommate who wants to...
-smoke weed
-obv ski
-drink a lot
-COD MW2
-ur not a douchey mc douche douche
-very chill
...is at least 91 percent. good luck.

im in libby right now and its got the best dining hall in my opinion. its also pretty close to engineering building and right next to the physics building.

kitt west isnt to far away, i wouldnt apply for it, but if you get in that its just full of business students who can party hard. i lived there and drinking 7 days a week was not uncommon haaha

this!

and Im in hallett. a little farther from libby but a close second, was overflow for engineers this year with a mix of everyone else, so lots of fun highly recommend.

except for the dreaded first floor east...

oh and we dont have a dinning hall which is kinda a bummer

im ECE at CU...i lived in the quad my freshman year, Aden to be exact. Not the nicest dorms, but close to food, usually a good environment to get work done it, studying for tests is great cuz theres usually other people in your classes that live there too. But just so you know, i applied to live in farrand libby kit cheyho and will vill and i got put in aden anyway. in terms of school, aden, bracket, cockerell, reed, or crossman would be the best to live in.

i dont live there but i know it does have the business rap program. however, from the people i know who live there they dont like the location. it is farther away from classes then all the central farrand field dorms. just something to consider.

i spent the night in kit west study hall last night doing circuits 2 and some other homework with the RA...drunk/high business majors were crawling all over the place

my girlfriend lives in brackett which is an engineering quad.. i think anyways.. she likes it enough.

yea ended up applying to these in order (you get 6 preferences)

1st-- Farrand Double

2nd--Farrand Triple

3rd--Farrand Quad

4th--Libby Double

5th--Libby Triple

6th--Hallett Double

im not really sure why people are suggesting hallet. i was in cheyo and it was prety chill. my list would go

Cheyo

Farrand

Baker

Libby

cheyo (again)

sewell

farrand again

I just got accepted to CU as well, and if I do go, will be into Mechanical Engineering.

All of those traits you just described, as just like me.

But I have no clue if I will end up there, I still have to hear back from some other schools

Well I finally sent in my intent to enroll. This late is there anything around ferrand field left? I'm a buisness major was thinking kitt west if nothing else is left.

The engineering dorms aren't usually as much fun (although I had a fucking blast!) but living in them as a freshman engineer will help you with school sooooo much. It's unbelievably helpful to have everyone you live with taking the same classes.
