French school lunches stomp American shit

Well, I'm glad I had pizza with rubber band cheese and hamburgers all through school. They put our public schools to shame.

Everyone knows what they get for lunch at school is bull, that is why it costs 1.50 and it tastes like it. Schools in U.S. have to feed a lot of poor ass kids something to eat throughout the day. If you are parent wise the fuck up and teach your child to make some god damn food.

If they tried to pull that system back in my elementary kids would be late to class before getting food.

oh fuck, pre-school shit. That makes a bit more sense. Is this type of food served up through whatever their equivalent for high school is?

interesting for sure. The french seem to have a lot of good ideas about how life should be.

And this is why the French don't respect American's..... Can you honestly say you'd prefer having essentially Kraft singles on your shitty pizza as opposed to a lunch made from a chef who's cooked for the Queen of England (from the video, and that's a RURAL town in France)? I'm Canadian and the food in our high schools was shit to be honest, your just making yourself seem ignorant of culinary culture.

yes. because when i'm with a chick i don't want to worry about legs that are hairier than mine...

and sure we think cool their kids have great food at school, but they're still a bunch of bitches.

Have you been to France to get your own opinion on the hairiness of their women?

If so, touche to you! If not come back when you figure out how to argue like your not in grade 5

that seems like a good idea but i have always had the impression the french were stuck up ( a sterotype), but this just......... i dont know anymore what to think . Im fucking baffled

I was on a 12 hour layover in france. thats the only 12 hours i spent there. although the one thing they have right is the wine. god damn i could've stayed another 12 hours for that wine.

it's a different culture

in europe lunch is the biggest meal of the day. it's a long sit down meal that consists of meat, potatoes, and other big hearty things. i'm surprised they even serve lunch at school. most kids tend to go home for lunch if they live nearby. then for dinner they eat small things. i'm sure this tradition is going away to a certain extent but it's not like america where dinner is the important meal

I've been to France loads of times (I live in England so its not far) but I actually have found that a lot more French people than English are more stuck up, a lot of them have like a high way of looking at life and if you don't conform to that they can seem snooty, so there is a fair amount of truth in that everyone thinks the french are stuck up, but like everything, a lot of them are lovely. :)

The French tend to put enjoying life ahead of getting richer or doing things faster.

The only time it's frustrating is when you're in a semi-rural area (IE not paris) and need to get something done at noon. Its downright impossible.

When I went to France most of the stereotypes flew out the window. The womenare gorgeous and most people are pretty nice. It was when we went to Italy when people started getting rude smelly and coated in cig smoke. Like ten people smoking cigs in a closed tram with 50 people in it. Put it out

Come on man, i dislike the french as much as anyone else but that stereotype is over played and untrue from my experience. Hooked up with this french girl on a cruise over the summer, no hair, anywhere..

I'm glad my taxes don't pay for a three year olds multi-course luncheon. What is wrong with a PB&J, an apple, and some juice? That got me through 6th grade.

While I'm all about food, and a foodie, I agree with what you said 100%. But there's a difference between [ PB&J and an apple and juice ] and what they serve at most high schools. It's just processed garbage. They should just stick to PB&J or simple non-processed shit. Having an extravagant lunch for kids is stupid and a waste of $.

Your a god damm moron. No wonder you didnt like france during your first 12 hours, your so god damm close minded you couldnt apreciate anything. Enjoy your fat women, redneck surroundings and shitty life conditions in america. ITS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

ps america is pretty awsome, Im not hating but thats how you think.

If the engine runs it will burn the fuel. Any te you industrialize a process you risk loosing quality. Making a PB&J for yourself is not that big a deal. Having 4 lunch ladies make PB&Js for 500 kids does eat up a lot of time, thus money. When you have several thousand kids to feed a day (think school district level) the cost difference between Kraft American cheese, and Tilimook cheddar gets pretty big. Honestly less focus should be placed on the food quality and more on getting the kids to go outside and run around, play football, play smear the queer, get banged up, get in a fight or two. That is all part of growing up, this P.C. Hippie bullshit about P.E. Is not doing any one any good. I doubt we would have the health problems if we required kids to run a mile, do pull ups, etc, to graduate high school.

I'm on the same side here, at least when it comes to people who are obviously obese and endangering their own health (like kids who can't do a single pull-up or take three steps without having to catch their breath).

Still, healthy and high quality food in schools is a key thing no matter the cost.

Unfortunatly we (USA) can't afford things like that, even if everyone agrees it is something that should be paid for. We need to make hard cuts, and I dont see school lunches as one of the necessary functions of government.

I went to the American School of Paris in the mid 90's and the lunch wasn't as crazy as this, but still were having spaghetti and meatballs and awesome, well cooked shit. For one of our field trips we even went to a restaurant and baked our own bread and made our own meals, (obviously with the help of the cooks and shit). I love France, they have their shit on lock.

too bad they're all gonna get sick anyways because they're food is overly disenfected. how are they going to build up an immune system that way? looks tasty though. deep fried broccoli? fuck yeah.

Yea ive traveled around Europe quite a bit, Imo the French and Spanish are really pretentious (with exception to the French Riviera where everyones too stoked to be living in the best place on earth to be a dick)the italians, polish and british are cool though.... Germans and dutch are cool but a bit weird though.

not really how i think...

just tryin to mess with people.

but yeah. france is cool, i was hated on for a bit when i was their for being american, then i was all like hey, lets kill this bottle, and get another. they were like aight, and then we proceded to drink. so

I klnow man, when i was with german, all they had was some sausage shit!!! waht the fu k where is the hamburgers?! and spanish just was assholes and have fish on everythig. i meet every person on earth so i know how people is all and cool and

glad you're not french personally with a mentality like that. I'm a French/American dual citizen and I love France. Its a beautiful, amazing place where the women are beautiful and not hairy. Such a dumb old stereotype that really only concerns women aged 55+
/end rant

I do agree that there needs to be more focus on getting kids outside and exercising (like I should be doing right now), however, just as much importance should be placed on eating healthy meals. I am a major foodie and I have my faults and eat stuff that's bad for me sometimes, but when I consistently eat healthy (make everything from scratch, steamed veggies, organic local meat, etc.) I physically feel more energetic and able to go outside and play. When I am not balancing my meals, I ensure that I get my vitamins elsewhere (tablets, supplements, etc.). I am lucky enough to be able to afford to do this - I have noticed, however, that all of the local organic food I buy is actually cheaper than the stuff from the stores - organic or not. In the summer, I grow my own vegetables - the cost is minimal but the time required to tend the garden is huge. Obviously not everyone can do this. But serving nasty cardboard tasting fat drenched burgers, soups, fries, etc. in schools is disgusting and it really would not cost that much to switch to slightly healthy versions of the same food. The payoff is well worth it. If only we had unlimited funds....

hahahahaha theyre so right about the 'americans gobble their food' part. YO IM HUNGRY, NEED TO WOLF THIS SHIT DOWN OM NOM NOMMM (meanwhile people are sitting around politely cutting their food and trying to converse and make the evening out an enjoyable, social experience).

Lol... OH NO! The french don't respect us?!?!???

I think he was saying that lunch is for an hour, awesome lasts for a lifetime. Enjoy the small victories dude, you're going to need them.

Hmmm... well the French must not think much past step one then huh? Where do you think the money that pays for the chef comes from? I personally would rather eat shit for lunch and not lose one of my balls to taxes, hence why I live in America, to eat shit for lunch and keep both of my balls. There are two sides to each coin bud- you're only looking at one side- possibly why French people don't respect Americans.

aha, if your country weren't flushing itself down the proverbial toilet with debt then maybe you could afford something like this? It could possibly even lower the outrageous obesity rate that's present in the great old US of A . I'm not even suggesting that Canada's that much better although we're only into 12 figures of debt vs. your 14 (links for information - otherwise a flameshow will ensue: http://www.usdebtclock.org/ AND http://www.debtclock.ca/) And in my highschool they still had to have staff in the kitchen who are obviously making around $35-45 000 a year depending on seniority (in case you want a conversion Canadian and American dollar are almost identical these days) so why not hire someone who enjoys their job, rather than some inbred hick fuck who just throws frozen chicken patties in the fryer?

Do you know what debt is? Apparently not. People buy American debt because its actually worth something. So we fall further into debt, or is it further into good? Yet again two sides to the coin, but money certainly speaks clearer than words. If American debt weren't worth something, would people continue to buy it? We certainly need to reduce spending on bullshit wars, but I see no reason for gourmet chefs in every school.

Debt is that which is owed; usually assets owed, but the term can also cover moral obligations and other interactions not requiring money. In the case of assets, debt is a means of using future purchasing power in the present before a summation has been earned. Some companies and corporations use debt as a part of their overall corporate finance strategy.

Your idea of what debt is seems ludicrous to me, your debt is "worth something" only because eventually its going to mean that other countries own you. You guys already owe China like 10 000 gummers under the "moral obligation" section of the above definition for them bailing your sorry asses out. enjoy whatever comes next from them, as you clearly have it coming. Just so I can clarify your ignorance (I desperately hope I'm feeding a troll on this one quite frankly) you think that the debt that your country is constantly wracking up is somehow worth a monetary value? In what way could your debt be worth anything to the American citizen other than a burden and future ownership by foreign nations?

some light reading material for you, assuming Wikipedia isn't past the learning curve for you on this subject:

"As of January 2011, foreigners owned $4.45 trillion of U.S. debt, or

approximately 47% of the debt held by the public of $9.49 trillion and

32% of the total debt of $14.1 trillion. The largest holders were the

central banks of China ($1.1 trillion) and Japan ($885 billion). The share held by foreign governments has grown over time, rising from 25% of the public debt in 2007 and 13% in 1988.]

This exposure to potential financial or political risk should foreign

banks stop buying Treasury securities or start selling them heavily was

addressed in a June 2008 report issued by the Bank of International Settlements,

which stated, "Foreign investors in U.S. dollar assets have seen big

losses measured in dollars, and still bigger ones measured in their own

currency. While unlikely, indeed highly improbable for public sector

investors, a sudden rush for the exits cannot be ruled out completely."
