I want to know which the majority of you like, or subscribe to. Say which one you subscribe to, or both and which one you like better.

Skier is a way better magazine than either of those...although I think you can only get it in Canada...

 
freeze for sure. been subscribed to that since the beginning. axis is real good too, tho, they just need a few years to grow.

 
I usually just pick up whatever one has better articles for that month at that given time!

i'm sixteen, I learned how to ski in Utah when I was two, I skied and raced in Michigan and Wisconsin for nine years, and starting freshman year I go to boarding school in New Hampshire, and skied New England last winter for some of the most epic pow the east has seen in years. Whenever I can, I ski out east (Vail, BC, etc) because I am definitely a big mountain skier (despite my home mountain). Although Powder has a bum rap for being an old person's magazine, they actually are the sole source for articles on the new backcountry newschool movement. They are as core as any mag can get, and combined with Axis (also made by Powder), you get the full scope of the newschool movement.

sorry for the life story, but I had to prove a point!!!

I am not a fan of Freeze- the 'writing' is horrible, and overall they're a sub-par publication. Powder is by far the best skiing mag out there- great pictures AND articles.

axis is a low budget piece of shit! freeze is transworld media's attempt to get into the skiing market!

freeskier is the GQ of ski mags! i guess a lot of you don't like it cuz you're all still 15 years old and can appreciate the dumbshit contribution of brad holmes. freeskier is the only independent mag out there and it was made for lack of a better choice unlike most mags that just want a market share.

freeze is good and funny but isnt very reliable, freeskier is informative but not to interesting and very reliable, axis is good

i cant describe the vibe i get when i drive by 6 people and 5 i hit
 
I'll agree that Freeskier isn't bad, but I still think that Powder does the best job as far as actually putting out a magazine goes- it's not completely cluttered with ads, etc- they get straight to the point.

I like both Freeze and Freeskier. i find if you want more arcticles to read to go with freeskier but more pictures then go with freeze. i just go for what ever is avaiable up here is Canada.

 
Hmm it really depends. some times Freeze is better and other time freeskier is better. But overall id say that freeze is better cause they have a lot of awesome pictures

Powder, yeah theres gay shit in there but overall its much better because I can't stand a magazine with only jib shit in it

 
im getting freeze for 3 years now.....it kicks ass, i cant read anything else, other than Axis, which Borders here just started carrying..

SBC Skier is the best magazine around. I don't know if it goes to the states but it has the best articles and the best pictures.

 
Freeze is ok sometimes, but have you ever seen a serious article in that rag? Its a waste of space for Brad Holmes to have the section he does and most articles that attempt to be serious deteriate to sex and beer somehow. Powder is the real deal. The editors are real skiers who are always on the scene and they do a quality job of covering newschool and big mountain and representing the skiing industry as a respectable entity.

they both have their pros and cons. i prefer freeskier because of their larger sometimes better quality photos, but right now im into skier, i use to be a fan of powder, they do a good job of covering differents areas of skiing and i recently discoverd the europeen skiing magazine D2 or something like that.

-getting an inch of snow is like winning 10 cents in the lottery-
 
um, actually there are a lot of serious articles in freeze. and freeskier reminds me way too much of ski magazine.

 
SBC is the best mag for sure, awsome articals, amazing pictures, and no b/s

SKItheBURG, the writing in Freeze, although intended to be serious, is horrible. Many of the articles that I've read in that magazine contain grammatical and mechanical errors alike...I'm aware that for 13-16 year old skiers it gets the point across, but I'll stick to reading Powder, where the writing actually makes it worthwhile.

Im not going to bother reading anymore of these threads that say that powder magazine is good. Its nonsense. Lets get serious. What are you talking about powder magazine on newschoolers for. Freeze, freeskier, axis, 2. All good mags for newschoolers. I think there might be an oldschoolers.com for you guys who like powder magazine.

 
ya i forgot axis and powder are also really dope. but mags like Skiing cover all aspects of skiing. Like ski resorts in the summer, things to do, training. Really good if your old or you are a tourist who visits resorts!

2 magazine is the shit. conversely, sbc is the shittiest ski magazine i have ever seen. they publish too many unstylie photos to count.

 
Freeskier is way better than freeze. SBC skier is sweet too, I don't live in Canada, but I live real close, maybe that's why I can find it.

Nickers, you're off your fucking rocker. You think Powder is old school? Take a look at the recent issue and tell me that it's old school- that's some of the most progressive shit I've seen in quite some time. Powder Magazine covers actual SKIING, as opposed to Freeze Magazine, which covers, more or less, taking off and landing. I suppose if Freeze does it for you, then stick with what works. But please don't be so ignorant as to believe that Powder is past it's prime.
