FREEZE EXCLUSIVE-Dorion Joins 4FRNT Team

Lake Tahoe, CA and St-Sauveur, QC, October 15, 2004 – 4FRNT Skis is pleased to announce today that Canadian freeride pioneer Vincent Dorion is joining the company as an owner and a sponsored rider. Dorion is joining fellow professional skiers Matt Sterbenz, Steele Spence and Niklas Karlström in the rider-owned ski company.

“We are so excited to have a skier of Vinnie’s caliber and experience on board� said Matt Sterbenz, founder of 4FRNT Skis. “The addition of Vinnie to our team continues our efforts to combine experience with youth in order to produce the best and most progressive designs in the industry. Vinnie is our first Canadian owner and that’s important because it shows our commitment to ensuring that all segments of the freeride world are represented in the 4FRNT brand.�

Dorion’s decision to leave his long-time sponsor and join the Lake Tahoe-based company was the product of Vinnie’s desire to continue progressing his own career. I am looking forward to combining my experience and interests to create skis that will help continue the movement we started. This is my chance to give back to the kids that have believed in and supported what we are doing and to help create a new future for skiing.�

4FRNT owner and rider Steele Spence said “Dorion is a nice addition to our team. He has always been an innovator in our sport and I’m proud that he is bringing his experience and creativity to our family. I am very excited to start collaborating with him on a new ski.� Work has already begun on a pro model ski for Dorion that is expected to be released next fall.

 
why is matt setting everyone up as owners? that doesnt seem too smart. yeah, vinnies a good skier, but i wouldnt want him running any kinda business. it seems like he cant pay them what they were getting at the bigger companies, but he is trying to build a big name team.

I would imagine that the company is struggling, doing well in sales, but struggling for growth capital which all new companies need in order to grow and be cutting edge. Each new 'ride/owner' is probably required to invest or 'buy' there way in to the company. This way it grows, bigger publicity and has more loot to make better gear.

^from I what I gander, they didn't. It said in the article that Vinnie decided to leave Salomon. I'm super stoked about this, Vinnie told me this summer that he might start competing again if he would have the backing of a 'true rider company'. I just figured he meant Salomon sucked, I didn't think that he meant he would leave Salomon. Sweet news though. Congrats Vinnie!! I'll see ya in CB this winter w/the matchstick crew again
