I've been skiing for awhile...but just this year I finally started doing some stuff in the park. And now i dont know why i've waited so long. Its so much fun. Right now I'm just working on grinding rails and boxes. but yeah...I am usually one of the only girls at our park, i think it would be so awesome if more girls got into it!

 
^^agreed..keep it up tho. its far from impossible if you really want it. and dont be satisfied with 180s off of bumps... thats cool and all but so are wedge turns for beginners. i like how grete has been really good for a lot of years, but in the past few her skill has gotten recognition by the industry. she is very well respected. no need to call attention to yourself, if your skill is worth recognising it'll come...

 
i don't like how your fishing around for respect on Newschoolers. if you desever the respect and are pushing yourself and do this for you not anyone else.

yeah im a girl too and when i started freestylin my biggest problem was i was scared. If your too scared then you wont land anything. It helps to have other girls to ski with too because they push you and you have competition. I started skiing with other girls and wanted to catch up to them. if your not scared then you can learn anything. thats the way i looked at it when i learned my first front flip. eventually you'll learn switch spins and rails but just make sure the jumps have soft landings. good luck!

Skiiers rock full stop is my opinion but I reckon anyone giving it a go is worthy of respect. I can't wait for the day when the general public realise how hot skiing is and get over the whole only-boarders-can-be-cool thing, I reckon boarders and skiers are EQUALLY cool! I did respect until I got to the end of the thread and realized you were aksing for respect. It's good that you're trying, but as someone else already said don't hold yourself to lower standards because you're a girl. I learned 3s by pencil-steezing it out, then once you're confident just put your hands down like you are gonna grab and the pencil-steez goes away.
