yeah its something that me and my buddies kinda quote and joke about doge all the time on the hill thats why i made one.

If this is for highschool, its probably fine but if you're in college you should probably put a little more effort into the design...

this is the problem i am in college and all the websites have to look like this style i hate the creative block they gave us on a super creative project

You're stuck to this format... in College?? good heavens. change colleges. look at every other website on the web. look at the format they're apparently giving you. look back at every other good professional website. then look back at what you're working with. then look up new college websites and apply.

and just some insight for everyone responding we also are limited to what we can use, this is an intro to web design class so we are doing everything out of photoshop and dreamweaver currently

meme's are dumb, don't use them to explain/promote a sport that is just now getting it's definition from "mainstream" even if you and your friends use the meme to make fun of skiing, I wouldn't want doge to be onw of the first things people associate with freeskiing.

why red outlined text for your nav bar? pick a color from your background image ( I'd use a background image that has more color to it/ isn't a shot form a cloudy day) ... also, very few people will recognize that shape as the base of a ski and not some weird blob bar thing. and "SWAGGER" .... really?

use a java light box plug-in, or a html photo gallery plug-in to have photos of all the different kinds of freeskiing (if you're making a real page, if you're making a web lay-out in inDesign or PS, make a frame for your photos to sit in, with indicator symbol below. also there are more photos of freeskiing than hand drags..

lastly, you footer need more room on the bottom from the background image, you should use a sans-serif font in the footer if you're sticking with sans-serif body copy. and your social media icons should be the same size.

you understand hierarchical content layout, but need to work on design continuity.

I'd do it like this:

thank you for being one of the few helpful people on the thread and yeah after actually thinking about it i removed doge and all the pics i have on the site as of right now are different pictures that i had to go out and shoot as part of the assignment (i just grabbed some off the internet to throw on there for conceptual design. the swagger tab is just kinda a silly name that i added but its more of a page on how to spot a free skier on the hill and common lingo that a free skier uses. and as the teacher puts it "content is king" he could care less about a picture gallery and more about an essay that explains how to do a 360. but with that being said i have redesigned the color layout and you saved my ass on the icons.... thats what i get for sliceing on my laptop.

no one will read a whole essay on a website's homepage. I recognize there are lots of ways to interpret "content is king", but a homepage is usually only a directory to content, usually used to get people to explore more of the site. Rather than just an essay, use pictures, words, and video to get ideas across more effectively than just words.

the ATML graphic is a good example

atml-graphic2.gif

this explains more about the idea, faster than a paragraph could.

His interpretation 300 words or more or you fail this guy is a 90 year old arogent duchebag if I could build this the way I want there would be all media with alt tags and no paragraphs
