Freeskiing isn't marketable.

i dont know about anyone else but if you really think about it freskiing doesnt have to blow up n be huge like snowboarding and skateboarding have done. if that happens than all that will happen is that even more people will just come into the parks and eventually they will just be over run with kids that all look the same and follow the styles that everyone else is wearing

so thats just what i think cause i kindof like it right where it is cause the only real big change will be more kids doing what were doing now so itll jus tmake it more crowded

 
skiing definetly has HUGE potential to get way bigger, and we will all see it grow alot within a few years.

strong words from doug, but true words. however, i think that skiing is catching on in a big way. go to any resort, even out east, and you will see assloads of kids in racer uniforms on twintips doing helicopter 3's- and dont get me wrong, racers dont necessarily make bad skiers, look at henrik and jon- but these kids see that freeskiing is the new "cool" thing to do, just like when some snowboarder hit a bump, spun around, and grabbed his board, thousands of kids started doing the same thing. now, the only real thing snowboarding is geared towards, is freestyle, but there are other aspects of it, like alpineboarding, and boarder cross. give it time, and hopefully, people will see the real face of the sport like crichton, instead of tanner. but, smoking weed has nothing to do with the growth of the sport. ever heard of danny kass?

when you walk through many ski lodges, you will notice a huge poster of Bode Miller with a chevy trucks logo, like a suburban ad or something. People see bode's achievements as being on top, or accomplishing the goals, living the dream.

There is no way that you will see those posters get replaced anytime soon by a photo of THall or Jon in his pink/fur jacket.

So, the thread has merit, bode is WAY more marketable than any of the top freeriders. To the mainstream, that is.

Obviously, most of the people on NS don't give a shit about bode and would rather see the poster of tanner or jon. But the NS crew is limited to what, 6,000 skiers? We'll see how much things REALLY change in the next 10 years. I don't think it's going to be as dramatic as many of you think.

Dude are sport keeps geting bigger and bigger and who cares if people smoke pot. I love are sport the way it is and we all need to keep supporting it and keep it growing and growing!

And look at snoop dogg, he boasts about smoking chronic 24-7 and is super ghetto, yet he makes more money that most people in the world. i like how you guys only think of the us when your thinking about how freeskiing is expanding. you say no skiers ahave "real" sponsers. look at jon hes sponserd by VW or audi or some car company corect me if im wrong. but hes basicaly like a tiger woods there hes super well known there like freeskiing is blowing up there its just taking more time to become markatable here. it will neevr be as big as it is in like sweeden or other places in erope but its definatly still a young sport and is still growing rapidly even though skiing as a sport in general is not doing that great in the US.

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......
