Freeskiing is like Middle School.

More than half the freeskiers I encounter are one or many of the following: Homophobic, bullies, bad listeners, alcoholics, easily angered, extremely immature, chauvanist.

its extra free when mom and dad pay for it

I'm in grade nine and I have to pay for my own shit I have had to pay for my own shit since grade six I got a fucking job or I mowed lawns or shovelled snow. Just saying not every teenager is a spoiled 10 year old even if your parents are wealthy most kids pay for there stuff, well the kids that I know

OP: Why don't you stop worrying what others are doing in the freeskiing world and concentrate on having fun whilst you are skiing.

Sorry to say this but freesking ISN'T a tight nit community. It's not like other sports were everyone is out to have fun, I wish it were. But there are to many spoilt little kids and gapers with false pretences.

Just because you are in the park you're not my friend. If I had to socialize with every guy who just sits at the jump inrun(like yeah I hit this thing) but then just skis of once he is done posing, I would be the most popular guy on earth.

I'm not saying you should be rude to one another or discriminate people.

What I am saying is: stop bitching about the "COMUNITY", because it doesn't exist. Find some people you are cool riding around the mountain with and stick to them. Don't expect everyone to be your friend.

there definitely is a tight knit community in skiing just like there is in most sports. it's not ONE community, it is hundreds, probably thousands of them. people out there riding with their friends (doesn't have to be in a terrain park at all)

the more individuals collaborate, the more these communities expand. spoiled little kids and gapers with false pretenses exist in many sports too. skiing is already luxurious enough that it takes $$$$ to get equipment/ transportation/ passes so of course those who already have easy access to this as a result of $$$$ will make others envious, especially if those who are well off are not setting a good example (arrogant, exclusive and unsupportive)

all these topics relate back to life, not just skiing.

ever heard about the concept of a ski bum. that's where this tight knit community stems from (people sharing their love for this sport with all other factors aside). Freeskiing is amazing, just live and learn and don't get too caught up in one frame of mind. This sport is the best, most wholesome activity we have found in our lives. That's why I continue to make movies and commit hours after hours to help people/ good friends ski to their potential. There are no guarantees. Just lets all do our best to cut out the cynicism and stay on a forward moving trajectory.

Yeah man I have to disagree with you on that one. I do think skiing culture has a lot of negativity, but one of the huge positives is that there is an enormous group of people that all relate to, observe, and interact with each other through media, industry, competition, and just all being in the same places for the same reasons. If there isn't a community, why are you talking about minute details of a largely inaccessible sport with a group of likeminded people you've never met?

also people keep saying stop worrying about everyone and just enjoy skiing. Disclaimer: I enjoy the fuck out of skiing. I work my ass off to live a block away from the best terrain park in the world and use it 120 days a year. Skiing is the best. This is a people issue not a skiing issue.
