Getting new everything

im 5'11

140

50/50 all mtn(pretty hard riding) and 1/2 park riding

i want a great carving ski and a ski that can handle park and is not mad heavy.

I was thinking Armada AR5 or a Line model, what do u think?

I get proform from my shop so only from Line, K2, Armada, Salomon, and Rossi skis.. thanks guys..

don;t you want to go fatter then ar5 if tour gonna be doing 50% all mountain?

or does "all mountain" mean east coast mole hill carving groomers.

I'd say it's between the Sprayer BC, Chronic Wide, Public Enemy, and the ARV. All '06 models of course, depends though, those are the ones that I think are wide enough to do everything but can pull decent park duty as well. I like the Karma myself, it's light as hell and wide enough to ride everything well...but it wasn't in your list, btw, what is Proform, and can I get hooked up? As far as I know it's some kind of discount, right?

I work at a ski shop so i can get things pro form which is straight from the manufacturer. its discounted. i dont know if my store carries Volkl but if they do I might give a good look at this years karma. I've heard great things and it also has been written as the top all mtn. ski for the past 2 years i think. I do ski east coast so its not like im skiing powder or cliffs, I just ride pretty fast so i want a ski that wont chatter or be shitty at speeds in excess u know?

what about a binding or boot?

Karmas. Get Karmas. They are REALLY light, and they are stiffer, so they can grip the ice and carve really well. I really hope, for you, that your store carries Volkl.

I'd go with Look p12 and I dunno about boots, try everything on that you can and take the best fit and feel....and fuck me....I wanna work at a shop and get hookups like that.

armada ar5. ive wridden the karma and the ar5 and thought the ar5 was alot funner of a ski...the karma skis alot like the new pe if you're familiar w/ that

i agree with the karmas cause i live east coast and im looking at like the same stuff (i like to go fast on groomers and ice and w/e). and what i've heard is that karmas are the way to go. and if you can get them at a cheaper price, buy two pairs and sell one to me

these days, you cant really go to wide. its your opinion. but yea, try getting the pollard pro from last year. it seems like it would fit you well. just try to pick something with mid-stiffness with like a 90 or so waist plus or minus a couple mm. that should be good.

Get the K2 Public Enemy. It might not be as wide as the ski you want, but it's solid. I have hauled ass, dropped cliffs, and that type of thing and never had a problem.

get the bc's, or some pistols they are great big mountain but you can easily throw them around in the park.

How can you work at a ski shop and not know anything about skis or equipment? or are you just looking for opinions?

either way, go Karmas. Volkl is the shit, I have V-Pros and they are stiff as hell, good for speed, all mountain, and the park. It's the only ski you will ever need. if you will be skiing any BC or pow days, maybe more then a quarter of the time, then get the Mantra's. Those are sick as hell too.

^if he's doin 50 percent park, i doubt he'll like the mantra. id recommend the mantra if u were doin alot mor all-mountain and pow then park.

your best bet IMO, is to buy two skis, one for park, that you can destroy on rails, cause face it, if you try to ski on ice with a park ski thats abused by rail its not gonna be fun. Get an allmountain free ride ski along with the park ski, best of both worlds.

Try the K2 outlaw!!

It is a real ski, so much more stable and better than anything else out there...

all "regular" twin tips will chatter like hell if you put em on edge....sorry but the truth is that twin tips are cheap skis and they suck at high speed. Some are better than thers, but they still suck compared to a true high level all-mountain ski.

The outlaw has the same tail size as the original enemies, but is 88mm wide, and has a metal layer...the ski RIPS...I got a pair mid-seaon last year and it destroys the pipe, super stable at warp speeds (were talking strgt lining at 7--mphs speeds) and rips a 3-inch deep trench when you lay em over...

The down side is that it is an expensive ski...so jibbing on it hurts...I do it anyways.

Best Ski of 2005 period...I begged Gutt from k2 years ago for a stiff high performance twin tip...Finally my day has come

I just started working at a ski shop and I dont do much sales, mostly rentals and stuff so I know just as much about the right ski as the avid skier does.. I'm learning fast though so maybe in a few weeks/months I'll be up to date on all the new skis/companies. I just wanted to get another opinion. I think im gonna get the Karma's thanks for the opinions guys i really gave them all a good long drawn out thought..

I mean, cosmetically i like the karma look over the chronics. plus isnt the chron a more park focused ski? i dont know ill look more into it.

yeah, Karmas do EVERYTHING. you're best bet in my opinion. I would be getting either those or the mantra's, but my hook up changed sponsership from volkl to Dynastar... so now i am getting the Big Troubles.
