Freeskier sucks Bring Back FREEZE!!!

THis kind of in response to the thread about freekier not allowing no pole's thread but it

brings up that larger issue of how much freeskier sucks compared to FREEZE

Freeze always seemed more interested in the culture of skiing rather the big

photo shoot to sell mags. does anybody else remember the good ol days

The only thing that made Freeze worthwhile was Tufflemeyer's column. The rest was the same generic, poorly written, grammatically broken shit as Freeskier. Axis was the only magazine that was worthwhile.

the sad thing is that half of newschoolers probably does not know what Freeze or axis is...

r.i.p

actually, i did read the whole thread and didnt see anyone from freeskier come out and say we dont like no poles.

Stop seing conspiracy when there is none.

It's been discussed - but it would take a lot of resources which would otherwise be directed towards the site.

If a magazine could work closely in association with NS (i.e. a monthly mag which can cover what happened that past month in the freeskiing world, i.c. event coverage, athletes, products, etc.).it would dope, and can work too.

Newschoolers can still use its funding, but the magazine (separately admin'd) can have all the goodnesses of NS.

Freeskier simply doesn't cover what most of us want - it's more mainstream. Freeze would probably thrive now - look at how big NS is. I bet we'd all subscribe if it was semi-decent.

are you telling me the you didn't see the thread about freeskier and the CIA conspiring to

stop the no pole revolution it goes all the way the top i hear George Bush hates no pole skiing to

An NS mag is a cool idea, but a lot of the content is going to be covered by the site news... I mean there's only so much ski news to go around. If you got the right people together I'm sure it would be possible to make a dope, innovative magazine anyways but that's definitely an issue.

the only thing that bums me about the mag is that like 75 percent of the magazine is ads, 20 percent pictures and 5 percent stories. Otherwise freeskier is pretty legit! Freeze was for sure in a league of its own though.

I miss Freeze too. But more so Axis. Freeskier has a new art director next year if that makes you any happier...? He's good, real good.

freeze was soooo damn good. it was always entertaining. it was just the way the mag was put together, it was funny as hell, had awesome pictures, and was just generally a little more edgy than freeskier (which i find to be dryer than week old bread). Plus, Parkasaurus was the shit, nothing else was that cool, or even close.

Axis was really good too, more informative, less hilarious.

but yeah. i dont like freeskier at all, not interesting

freeze was always the sickest mag. had the sickest articles, best gear girls, ask brad was just amazing, and the mag just felt nice to hold.

axis was alright, but way too short to ever last and be worthy to buy.

shit i completly forgot about liftie of the month

good stuff there were some pretty attractive lifties if i remember

this reminds me that i haven't gotten a new freeskier magazine in like fucking 2 months. WHAT THE FUCK FREESKIER!!!!?!?!?!

you've got to understand that is way a different time when Freeze was around. And they were into the culture because it was so small at the time that it was easy to cover basically everything going on. This shit has blown up huge in the past few years, wayy beyond anything Freeze ever had to cover. And for whoever said that they weren't into photoshoots to sell mags, does PARKASAURUS ring a bell? I believe it started the late season photoshoot idea. To sell more mags.

Muhammad is the most commonly used name on earth, read a fucking book for once.

I agree that no matter what any magazine could be better. But does flaming the one good mag we've got on the internet help anything? No not really.

Skiing is too big to cover culture? Aside from a few staples (NS and the X-Games... and actually that's it) freeskiing is so infantile. There's a few comps here and there that are generally disorganized and slapped together, we don't have a world tour, for Christ's sake we're not even an Olympic sport. Bowling is bigger than skiing. They don't need to cover everything that's going on, NS does that. They need to have a magazine with cool, unique articles that people actually want to read. Culture. Snowboarding has it. Golf has it. Running has it. Shuffleboard probably has it. It can't be that difficult.

ahmen, i have like all of the freeze issues at my house, and id rather read through all this old ski news than any new issue of freeskier. Freeze was all kinds of funny, plus lifty of the month, and awesome interviews with the best skiers. Too bad transworld dropped em.

Actually i bet if newschoolers took their news reports and combined it with kids/professionals photography, maybe add a few hilarious tales from the forums, they could have a dope mag. Freeskier just trys to hard and they end up being so inside-jokish and goofy. PLus i havent seen a new issue in almost 3 months, freeze always came a month ahead of time.

I didn't say it was too big, all I said was that Freeskier has a ton more shit to cover now than Freeze ever did back in 2000. I could list all the shit that Freeskier covers in addition to the X-games, US Open, Aspen Open, North American Open, etc... Those guys are out there every single weekend covering something for the mag.

and I'm pretty sure that the ski industry is actually bigger than bowling. There is more to this industry than the NS crowd, you do know that right?

And if it isn't that difficult, DO IT YOURSELF! There's a reason other mags haven't worked out and Freeskier is still around.

the guy who made newschoolers (Matt Harvey) made freeskier mag so there is kinda no point to a ns mag cause ther kinda already is one

i respect freeskier, no hate there, but FREEZE started it all for me, saw one on the shelf of a Wegmans when i was in 7th grade, and from then on i was hooked into the "freeskiing" world

I still read all my old Freezes on the pot. I love Freeskier thought, it is a good magazine. I remember liftie of the month, didn't old freeskiers or old powders have something similar as well?

have you guys seen SKEEZE mag yet? it def harks back to freeze days of lore. numerous parodies but same type of gonzo ski porn coverage

hahahahahahahahahaaha oh god i was not expecting that and just lost it when i read it. thank you, and thank you mclovin.

thank you, yeah does anyone know what ever happened to Brad Holmes, he disappeared sometime in 2005

SKEEZE would be good if it wasn't a giant K2 ad. Freeze was always amusing, and Axis was good too. I'll still read my old copies every now and then. I signed up for the free issue of Ski Time, but never got it :(

hey dont make another pointless thread on NS theres already 100 posts on this site.

go and complain to TRANSWORLD present HARD FACTS, AND STATISTICS on how Freeskiing is the fastest GROWING winter sport,

dont make an online petition, that wont happen, they do nothing.

call up the big guns at Transworld and PROFESSIONALLY make your case just dont bitch, cuz that wont help

either that or raise money buy the rights to the name and do it the right way.

that my friends is THE only way to get Freeze back

Freeze was pretty silly content wise, but it was classic, and you can't fight that.

Powder and SBC Skier are still the best out there if you want real content. Freeskier is a joke.

axis was the shit, i mis that mag the most. the pics were good, the interviews were what someone actually wanted to read adn overall it was just pure bliss to the eyes and mind, i was so pissed when the stopped. BRING AXIS BACK!!
