always funny what comes up when you hit the end of the internet...

can anyone actually clarify this situation and how it went down? did freeskier claim to be coming out with a new mag but just keep their name and ditch the old format?

I love the headline haah

New teen ski magazine to launch

Denver Business Journal

Storm Mountain Publishing Company, parent of Freeskier Magazine, Freeskier.com and Fantasy Freeride League, is launching a national ski title exclusively for the teen market.

Storm Mountain, based in Boulder, said the new magazine will target skiers ages 12-18 and focus on editorial relevant to the youth market. The magazine said its production will "thrive on a raw, edgy look and feel, breaking traditional publishing standards with each issue."

Freeskier's Matt Harvey will serve as the editor of the new magazine and Web site. Harvey is best known for founding the popular Web site Newschoolers.com and for re-launching Freeskier.com.

The new magazine will compliment Freeskier, which targets skiers ages 18-30 and employs more diverse editorial. Freeskier describes its editorial content ranging from the terrain park to the big-mountain scene to the bar.

yeah its the same name, but bringing in Harvey as editor definitely changed the face, and ultimately the magazine as a whole, which is what this article is referring to

^No, it was a side magazine that flopped and I don't even think I realized they stopped making it until you reminded me of it just now. Can't remember what it was called though. Jib something?

I think its talking about Ski Time. There were only two issues of it if I remember correctly.

Damn it, that's the name. All I remember was something about Peter Olenick and money, I think they must have been going for irony.

yes it was Ski Time

I had botht eh first issues for quite a while. There was a sick ass interview with Chris O'Connel i believe it was? All about filming and photogging skiing. Def one of the first things that got me REALLY stoked on shooting. It's a shame it didn't flourish into a bigger magazine

haha oh man i designed an ad for ski time for sublux. Still have the first 2 issues because of that. that was the worst magazine i've ever seen. Text was all over the place and margins were crappy. silly.

ski time had one of the funniest articles ive ever read it was called how to pretend your sponsored and it was just shitty sketches of advice on how to be pro. and in the first pic there was this dank ass pic of some dude nosepressing a skateboard down the street so dope RIP ski time

I love how authoritative your post is, yet utterly and entirely wong...

You accidentally summed up NS in all its glory.

Ski Time was so good. I remember Eric Iberg wrote the intro and there was a rainbow and unicorn in there I think. Also, Harvey has a "Ski Time" tattoo!
