they didnt get to good of a rating im thinking this is only cuz they claimed it was an all mountain ski and they didnt think it was but i live in the east so i dont really care about pow performance and stuf but does anyone else think they suck or are they good?

Well lets see they pick the some Rossi "directional big mountain" ski with NO twin tip that obvioulsy is gonna suck in the park for there editor's picks and give it a high rating. You cant trust random niggas with this kinda shit as George so eloquently put it

have you ever picked up a pair of silencers...without a forklift? its impossible, heaviest ski ever. i think they compressed a 2X4 and called it a ski

i thought they were supposed to be more poppy and flexy than the publics but stiffer than the fujatives. idk thats just my take on it.

they seem like such an unnecessary ski. They're a little more park oriented than the public enemies, but not so much as the fugatives. So, i'm guessing they're pretty much a good all-mountain ski for a smaller rider because they're not as heavy as the PEs...

so a ski buyers guide, which the point of is to let us know about the pros and cons of new equipment, said something negative about a ski. Isn't that the point?????

i read the review and it seems fair. They didn't "hate" on it...the pointed out what was good and bad.

You could look at this the other way and say "FREESKIER LOVES THE SILENCER!!!!" cause they say it's quik and light in the park

they are definatly not heavy, just normal k2 weight, lighter than the publics and fujatives too. and they are stiffer than the fujatives, but quite a bit softer than the publics. i skiied them for like a week over the summer in whistler and its one of if not the best park ski ive ridden, ive skiied ar5's, stl's, fujatives, tm's, invaders, scratches, and it beats all of them for park, except mabye the stl's, its a tie between those two. they feel most like the ar5's with a different flex, its easier to butter them than ar5's but i cant tell if they are softer or not. the one place where they do really well is on jumps, on jumps these beat any other ski, the flex and weight and everything is perfect for it.

even chris turpin said its the best ski he has ever ridden, and he was dropped from k2 and he is on 4frnt now and he still said that.

Yeah, because skis without twin tips must suck. I mean you can't make a good ski without putting a twin on it, it's just common sense.

I have flexed them.... nooo way are they softer than publics. And they are skinny... I don't understand why they were even made.

yeah you flexed them, you didnt ski them, i have and they did feel softer than the pe's i demoed, quite a bit softer actually. even when i flexed them in the shop they felt softer, and it seems like they flex alot more too. they were made to be inbetween the fujatives and pe's and thats exactly what they are, and they are a bit lighter than both. thats why they were made, and in turpin's opinion aswell as alot of other people opinion they are the best park ski k2 has made.

dont talk shit about them unless you have skiied them

i skied them for the last half the year last season and like them way better than my fujas... stiffer just felt overall more responsive to me.

Nahh I liked them.

Sure they aren't a park ski, but for somebody coming from racing or something who needs to go fast and carve on a harder ski, they're sweet. Well that's what I felt when I ski'd them.

Also, nice looking. Always a bonus.

i didnt think they did that great with carving? mabye cause they were centermounted, thats why freeskier didnt like them, because they thought a park ski was supposed to be good all around and they even said its bad for powder if i rember right. they definatly need better testers that arent 50 years old.

i've had my silencers since last febraury and i think theyre so-so. they jump as a well as any ski. too heavy? what are you? a wussy? go faster off the jump. simple physics toots. anyway...i live in the icy midwest and i say they carve well if they're tuned. i have them mounted just slightly back from center i bought them based on their carving ability cause thats all we can do on our 200 ft of vert/ice. :[ then i made the mistake of bringing them to pissler the next month in march 06. it was like skiing through oatmeal. way too skinny, although i dont even know that seths would have been any better (i didnt have a good trip if you can tell). i can't give you an opinion on all the trick shit/pipe as i dont do that stuff. but they seem nimble enough on packed snow, jumps, etc. other stats: silencers = 179, look p-18 binding me= 6'2" 185# w/o gear

as i learn more about skiing i'm finding that you really ahve to take ski reviews with a grain of salt. the best way to know is to demo skis if possible. the silencers with be my obvious weapon of choice at the home hill, but on a real hill i think im still gonna search? any suggestions fellow snow whores given my experience at whistler (sorry bout the pissler comment)? i need an all mountain slayer with good carve ability. seths? arv?

hahhahaha

ha

I said that I flexed the two... they felt stiffer, and I mean a lot stiffer in my opinion. Looks like now everytime anyone states an opinion they are talking shit. Watch out guys!

let me also point out that you never mentioned you had skied the publics in your above post. The "i don't know why they were even made" comment refers to the fact that they seem like an afterthought, they are just sorta in the middle of two skis that are already extremely versatile, so it doesn't make sense to me. but that's just me of course.

i demoed pe's in whistler for a couple runs, not long enough to tell what they skiied like, but i tried butters and stuff on them and its hard as hell, they just dont flex easy at all. while on silencers they arent the easiest to butter but they still do it without much of effort.

and im guessing the reason they made them is because the fujative is a soft ski, the pe's are very stiff ski's and nothing inbetween. plus fujatives and pe's both weigh quite a bit so it makes sense to have something lighter too.

Silencers are the guts of the original Public Enemy with the 80mm waist width and a cap topsheet. We have the Public Enemy positioned as a true do-everything ski. A ski for people who enjoy a stiffer flexing board that won't shudder at high speeds. We have the Fujative as our park killer.

Silencer was brought out to create another option at a competitive price. A wood-core ski that you can beat the shit out of and not have to break the bank. The cap construction makes it slightly softer than our PE, making it ideal for kids to find the PE to be a bit too much. In terms of performance, you will find it leans more towards a PE than the Fujative.

Again, as Captain Hoth said above, take anybody's "ski tests" with a grain of salt. Demo bindings give a ski an awful dead spot, especially if you are trying to butter and such. I know not everybody has the opportunity to demo, but even try and ski on all of your friend's skis when you are out with them. Your idea of what works for you will become apparent rather quickly. Try as many as you can and buy the ski you like.

schmies

well i skied them for the 2nd half the year last season, and i love them. there u go. and to everyone saying they are too skinny and shit cause they always ski slush, then go get some fatter skis. if ur just skiing east coast ice aka "machine made packed powder" like myself then u dont need a wide ski. and to anyone who said they are heavy... are u smoking? i found them overall way way way better than my fujas, but looking back maybe i should have just gotten this years PEs, idk. (for reference mine are mounted +1 of their centermount line)

just out of curiosity how many of you people that have posted in this thread have actaully even rid silencers?

I usually wouldn't veture into describing how a ski performs unless I have actually skied it, that is just me though:)
