i know this is sort of childish but today at the doctors office i was reading a sports illustrated for kids and noticed that Simon Dumont was in it as well as a pair of twin tips (cant remember them off the top of my head). This is proof that in some way free skiing is getting bigger and more popular. YAY publicity!!!!!!!!!!!

truth.

wtf kid, have you not been to a ski resort in the last five years? shit-tonne of peeps riding twintips now, ski film festivals everywhere, etc.

OPEN YOUR EYES and realize freeskiing isn't an underground sport.

in some parts of the us/ world it is still very underground. like southern new york. or at my school. they still think "tricks are for snowboarders" and ive been asked why8 i was wearing snowboard clothing, and i know plenty of skiers who arent on ns and dont know shit about stuff like if3 and what is going on in the ski industry.

wordddd. same with my school theres like racers. their all gapers otherwise, theres one other kid i know at my school who skis park Big_east.

yeah, in places like the west, everyone knows about freeskiing, but here in NY, when you tell people you ski, they think race

okay, but you don't need to be on NS or know what IF3 is to look around and see how many twintips are in ski shops, or how many are on the hill, or how many are on tv.

but i can understand how it might be that way in NY, so i'm not going to disagree with you on that.

poor kids trying to contribute something, doesn't know what to say so makes this thread. cant really hold it against him. now everyones hating on him and his thread is in the trash cause k-rob thinks hes dumb.

straight up, people in the east, when they think of a skier, they think of a gaper or racer.

up here in Ohio, thats how it is atleast. It's nice that way though.

I was surprised to see Ski Racing Magazine annual gear guide sample twin tips. Even the editorial in first part announced that they were going to depart from the normal and show what racers were using on the rest of the mountain. or something along those lines....

where I am, nobody knows what IF3 is...I only heard about it from NS. maybe if you're on the east coast people know more about the EC movie premieres/awards, but out here on the west coast the most people don't know what IF3 is, or even what NS is (at least until I tell them muahahaha)

Why would you not want our sport to grow? The bigger it gets the more money becomes available, and with that more things can happen. Bigger comps, more money for our professional athletes, bigger travel budgets, better filming, more money for companies to create new and innovative products. There is a myriad of things that can happen if the sport grows. And why would you not want the share the sport your are so passionate about with others? If it brings you happiness wouldn't you want to try and share that happiness with others? Growth in the industry is a good thing and hopefully will continue to happen.

Yeah same here. I think its cool because its not like as big as snowboarding. It would be dumb if EVERYONE skied. It just wouldnt be the same. I hope the skiing and stuff progresses but id rather it not get much bigger than it is. I think id be some gay if everyone skied.......

this happened because i started to write it but realized it was in the wrong post so i copied and pasted it and it turned out white.

yeah not too many people from around here (Montreal) know about it either. I mean yes they might recognize a twintip, but I still get tons of weird looks when people here I ski down the hill backwards.

Sellout...

Next thing we know Dumont will have a clothing line exclusively at Target and faux skis will be available in the sledding section of every major department store.

my football coach came 2 practice one day and started saying "TRUF?" when ever someone told him something, when we asked him to spell that he was like, "T-UHHHHH-ROOF", it was the greatest moment ever. i guess he picked it up from the prison that he works at, it was soooo funny.

Ya idk wahts up with the hate. Thats good to see in SI. In comparison to snowboarding skiing has catching up to do, althought it is getting bigger there are too many people that still think skiing is lame. Ya you see twins in ski shops and whatever, but that is not on display to the general public that have never been to a ski shop for the simple reason that they do not ski or snowboard. SI is seen by a shit ton of kids who may now say, "hey, ya know what, skiing is fucking cool. I wanna be cool, maybe ill try skiing on twin tips like that man in the magazine". Thats how it happens

that definitely good exposure, all you little ski bums living in resort towns forget that the majority of the world doesnt have a fucking clue as to what newschool skiing is. any i really don't think there is any danger of there being too many freestyle skiers in the world. if that ever happened resorts would start making more terrains park (like most are) and the level of riding would improve.

skateboarding blew way the hell up and now the level of skating, amount of sponsored skaters, and amount of skate parks is through the fucking roof (and way wayyy wayyyy above skiing). with more coverage comes more competitions, more sponsor $, more terrain parks, cheaper skis, and those who have been working hard to promote the sport (thats you Mr. Bishop) will finally get redemption for the long hours and tight budgets the work with everyday

I think I'm the only freeskier in my school. I only know one other freeskier, otherwise I ski with snowboarders all the time. [And people still call me gay for skiing, but strangely, most of these people don't ski or snowboard.]
