Free Overnight Parking near Copper Mountain

I'm planning on driving from Utah to copper mountain in January and staying 6 nights or so. Does anyone know where I'd be able to park my car overnight for free right next to the mountain? Or any towns nearby within 30 min like dillon I could park without worry?

**I am hoping not to stealth it out, but I will if needed

Any help is greatly appreciated, especially from locals, or people who have done something similar in the past.

Not sure if this is still the case, but Copper used to let ppl camp out in their cars, provided they kept to the outermost perimeter of the lots. Like ive seen people just post up in their campers and shit.

I'm considering riding copper sometime opening week like mon 11/12- thurs 11/15 ish. Would be ideally just openly camp in the lot with the truck camper. I'll report back but if anyone has insight please advise

Thanks for some info, I was just curious because I saw on their website that there is no overnight camping without a permit on their website.

Hopefully it all goes well for you guys doing it soon!

How did it go if you went?

No problem in the Alpine lot one and two. there were about a dozen rigs throughout the lot all quietly camping spaced out from each other. Far side away from the shuttle pick up points. Probably not an issue unless there’s a ton of snow overnight that needs plowing

Technically, no one is allowed to camp in the lots at Copper. There is a county law that prohibits this, otherwise, Copper is fined. I camped here last night and received a knock on the door this morning. The guy said we got lucky but we'd need to move out today along with the info above. Bummer!
