so the other day i bought a pair of hellbents a new dakine back pack and a whole lot of other shit for over $1000. im gearing up for my trip to japan in january so im pumped buy all this new gear, anyway i got home and the next morning and checked the receipt and i notice the transaction was declined. so i literally got a grand worth of gear and new skis for free... at first i was stoked but then i realised... if i was the young guy that served me ide feel like shit if i lost my job, so i called them back, now im going back 2mrw to pay 4 the gear. they were happy obviously, and of course i fetl a lil less guilty but roght thing?? or jjust stupid?? for a student struggling to to balance work and skiing it was tough as 1000 is hard to come by... how many of you would have done the same and called back??

prob wouldn't have told them. 1000 is a alot of money. however was a local ski or shop or a larger franchise store? gotta support the idependent stores, so if was i would have told them about the error.

i got you to the thread didnt i?

but yea to AR6_Aussie i am an aussie so it was a small independent store

cheesy much?? but cmon the titles not whats important, its as you said... ethics...ish

If you already told them, you should probably go back and pay. If the guys at the shop are cool they might hook you up with a deal or some free shit for being honest. It's their fault that they hired illiterate/incompetent kids to work, not yours. Or if you don't feel guilty/have a conscience then don't go back, you just scored some free gear.

i alreaddy called them and yea im going back 2mrw to pay... im kinda hopin g they hook we up with something... new set of poles atleast would b good...

The same happened to me man. I bought a set of Dumonts from a large chain of stores here in the UK and they forgot to charge me online! I haven't told them coz i dont have the money to pay for them now. But props for your honesty

If it was Snow & Rock then fair enough.. I hate them, overpriced gear, don't care about customers, and all they want to do is rip everyone off (they're on commision). I'm pretty knowledgable of clothing features and equipment etc, and everytime I go in there I put the ski tech or sales assistant to shame, as I have to tell them what things are!

But if it was a pretty small chain and they've helped you out then definitely pay them back when you have the cash bro.

Oh and sorry for that rant about Snow & Rock.. I don't know if you lot have it over in the US, it's just a massive chain store full of extremely expensive gear targeted at people who have a lot of cash and are vulnerable to buying things that they're told they need. Not sure what your equivalent store would be.

good on you, you did a good thing. probably would've cost the guy his job if you didn't call them back. :)

+++ for being honest dude, in ski retail you likely will lose your job if it's your first season and you fuck up that big.

I would've called back as well, if you were going to pay anyway but the transaction didn't go through you're not losing anything by paying what you were in the first place.

straight dumb, yea you did a good thing, but like sweet, i guess you could call me an asshole but for all that shit for free i just say fuck it, sweet nab

If it was an online chain or store chain I would have said fuck em, but you did right in supporting local. Next time you go in they might remeber you as the guy who made their 1k sale and give you a discount.

I guess you did the right thing, but I say you should take what life gives you and life tried to give you free fucking hellbents haha, who knows maybe you will be rewarded much more in the future bc of this honesty, but I doubt it

calling them backs pretty nice and all but i wouda totally no told them. i mean 1000 is a solid amount of money and if you were planning on spending that much you could buy double nowif you really wanted to

i concure

you cant post a thread with "Free Hellbents" as the title this close to the season!!!!

so many kids just got thier hopes and dreams crushed hahaha

good job dude that shop wooda been fucked if u didnt cuz that guy wooda lost his job and 1000 lost to a independent store makes a big difference
but i have to say if it was sports authority or something fuck them u shooda kept it if it happened in that situation

Last year, the shop that i went to took a chance, i was having problems with cash, but i really needed a new pair of skis and binders, so i go in, sure enough, they mount up a pair of Fujatives and had me pay later when i had the cash, of course i went back and paid and on top of everything, they gave me a free mount and wax when i first bought the skis. You should try and make friends in your local shops (know people), because you never know when you get a hook up.

i bought a mac mini from apple and they never charged me so i had the 700 i'd saved up for it just sitting in my account so i bought a pair of skis and then 2 weeks later they charged me so i had -300 in my accountit sucked, beware, apple charges late...

Nice job man, definitely did the right thing. If it was a stupid ass big chain store (which I avoid anyway) and they were dicks or just really stupid, I might not pay for it, but they would reaaaaaaally have to rub me the wrong way.

You defenitely did the right thing dude, $1,000 is a ton of money to rip off from a small local shop. You've got some major good coming your way.

ya its was a good move to support the independant buisness. they would need it and a mistake like that could really fuck things up for them. on the other hand i could care less about a big business that would even notice a mistake like that.

you got a lot of people excited with that title.

but good call. you wouldnt have felt good on your skis all year

good call man. hopefully you'll get hit with four times as much snow this winter to further enjoy your honestly purchased hellbents.
