Kayaker Injured Beneath Construction Project

A

kayaker is recovering after he says a steel plate fell from a bridge

construction project, piercing his boat and cutting his foot.

It

happened Monday afternoon on the French Broad River at Long Shoals Road

in Buncombe County. Trevor Church wound up using crutches today after

the cut on his foot required 12 stiches.

DOT officials posted

warning signs to stay in the middle of the channel. Trevor says he was

near the western bank under the bridge when the falling metal hit him.

Trevor's

father wants the DOT and contractors to pay for his son's treatment and

boat, and to make sure no other metal falls from the bridge.
 
first, and thats messed up. the company should pay for the treatment and be happy that they arent paying for more than that
 
are you serious? he can sue them for millions dude... besides damages, there is negligence and what not. hes going to get a nice settlement out of this
 
yeah i know he can sue them for millions, it says right there in the article that the dad only wants them to pay for the treatment and the boat. thats why i said the company would be stupid not to try and argue that
 
I have been with him down the french broad a couple times while they have been building and the only warning signs that are there are two orange signs that say "Construction Area".
 
yea he can, and win nothing. Kid got a cut on his foot...fucking idiot american get rich quick schemes. Pathetic.
 
i didnt say he should sue and win millions, i just said he CAN sue and win millions. i dont really like how this legal system works either
 
Yea don't sue in fact don't even tell anyone, then maybe something like this can happen again:

"(CNN) -- A 40-ton steel support girder on an overpass west of Denver, Colorado, collapsed onto Interstate 70 on Saturday, killing three people and blocking eastbound traffic on the interstate, a state official said."
