not sure if pollard was influensed by him, but the art on the ski is a fair bit different from the art francis bacon painted

there was another francis bacon who was around in the 17th centry but he was a philosipher.

does anyone know which francis bacon the skis name is from?

He talked about Pangea, the super-continent, that's why last year's ski had animals from different continents and this year's has photos from different continents. According to the Line website Pollard actually named the ski after that first graphic with the animals.

The Sir Francis Bacon of the 17 century was a philosopher indeed. He disputed science to that point, saying it was not tested. He was the person to come up with the idea that theories needed to be tested before they were used. It is him that we owe all we know about science and technology, with out him nothing would have to be proven by means of experiments.

"Men have sought to make a world from their own conception and to draw from their own minds all the material which they employed, but if, instead of doing so, they had consulted experience and observation, they would have the facts and not opinions to reason about, and might have ultimately arrived at the knowledge of the laws which govern the material world."

He's fundamental to the scientific method, and therefore science.

And if u guys watched the vid on how Pollard made the Bacon ski, u would know that he designed a kind of scientific process for testing his prototypes of the bacon, to create the best ski for backcountry,

hence how he created it, derives the name of the philosopher
