going back to what was said a while earlier about there being more serious problems in this world than terrorism, that is quite true. Terrorism, while very scary, though grossly exaggerated by the media, isn't going to be stopped and spending huge amounts of money to increase the budget deficit isn't going to help. There will always be terrorism. you really can't argue with that. there will always be people with a lot of anger built up inside them that want to take it out on others in violent fashion. These terrorist organizations aren't necessariliy associated with any governments, so its impossible to single them out. I can't really say what we can do to stop terrorism, because i hate it just as much as anyone else does, but realistically, it doesn't seem like an endeavor we should be spending huge amounts of time and money on because the benefits will probably be small.
The death toll from terrorists really isn't that large, either, compared to some other things. for example, civil war in the congo, has killed almost as many people as the holocaust did, and i have seen nothing being done or said about that. I dunno about you guys, but millions of deaths in the Congo seems more important to me than 2000 deaths here. That may seem harsh, but i value the life of a human equally whether they are american or foreign. I suppose there is the possible threat of a loved one or even myself being killed by terrorists, and that would be hard, but there is a better chance of someone getting killed in a car accident than by terrorists. to sum it up, terrorism sucks, but won't be stopped, and there are more pressing issues.
