Even if you dont support the USA's actions in the war on terror, it appears your still not safe. France, of all countries, is next.

'PARIS — French officials are investigating threats against France by a radical Islamic group, the Justice Ministry said Tuesday.

The group identified itself as the 'Servants of Allah the Powerful and Wise (search),' the ministry said. It was unclear whether the group is known to French authorities. There was no initial indication of ties of Usama bin Laden's Al Qaeda organization.

The Paris prosecutor has opened an investigation.

The nature of the threats was not immediately disclosed. French Europe-1 radio reported that Le Parisien newspaper received a fax from the group, threatening attacks.

The ministry statement confirmed that a communique had been delivered to the newspaper, adding that it is 'not yet possible' to comment on the document's authenticity.

In the past weeks, French authorities have received terror threats from another little-known group that calls itself AZF (search).

The group claims to have planted nine bombs along the country's rail network and has threatened to explode them unless it is paid millions of dollars.

Information from AZF led to the recovery Feb. 21 of an explosive device buried in the bed of a railway line near Limoges (search) in central France.'

France (and the rest of the world) didn't see Iraq as part of the terrorist problem, and it's not. that is why we are in afghanistan (where the rest of the world said it was ok).

ellerman, you said up above that france has not been attacked yet. ACTUALLY, on Feb 21st an explosive device, put in place by terrorists who warned of the bomb, was dismantled from rail road tracks in central france. thats an attack plain and simple.

It was the French who led the UN Security council on September 12, 2001, condemning the attacks and demanding justice for the victims. They were the FIRST foreign power to offer support for the U.S., and Jacques Chirac was the first leader to offer his backing.

A lot of people say that the French turned their backs on America. In fact, it was just the opposite. In France, America had an ally who could tell them when they were making a mistake. Apparently, Americans are too stubborn and sure of their own infallibility to listen, even to their oldest friend, and would rather insult one of their longest-standing allies like whiny little school children.

SimonFiller, seriously, you need to learn to read. J.D.'s statement about the inventions was after he said the American's who participated in that bullshit should be ashamed of themselves. I completely agree. I myself am somewhat ashamed to be American because of recent events. Of course, I like the civil liberties and freedoms that I take for granted, but honestly, the way we represent ourselves to the world is dispicable.

American's sterotype of huge fat pieces of shit makes me laugh, it is completely true. We import far more than we export, and we import more goods than any other country in relation to population. We are a FAT country. Too many of us like to think of ourselves as 'Patriotic' and argue on behalf of America for the accussed 'injustices' that we are held against, especially the thought of France betraying us by not joining the Allied Coalition in the War on Iraq. Please, give me a break. Speak for yourself.
