Hey anyone know what happened to the lift they planned to put in there? is it a future thing or just from way back in the day? cuz its totally a cut lift line with a big clearing at the bottom for the lift.... or does it just happen to be some completely random as someone was on cracka nd cut a big strip out of the mtn? , Also does anyone happen to have a copy of the plans for the expansion out to function and all that shit? They use to showcase it in the building at creekside as it was getting torn down and redeveloped. I think there is liek one gondola up from function, one from creekside, and then a few lifts including one to the peak...like 5 in total or something....
 
Any expansion plans Intrawest may have had are probably shelved for a little while now with Fortress owning them. And they blew the new lift budget for the next little while on the massive nut they are spending on the Peak-to-Peak gondola.

If there was another lift or a high-speed crystal chair it would ruin that area though anyway. It already gets tracked out fast enough.
 
yeha i think that cut line is from an old lift though or an old plan lift....but if any of you have seen the master plans whistler has soo much room for expansion, its epic.
 
For sure. I wouldn's want another chair there, Crystal is like its own mini area. The tourists don't like slow triples, so they stay away. It should stay that way.

Does anyone even remember seeing the expansion plans on whistler with the staging area in function and like 5 new lifts all in the chiaber area + further back by symph? or did i just dream this up when i was shit faced?
 
those are both areas where stuff is planned.....like the final, final draft for whistler is huge. There are 2 more gondolas, and i think 4 or 5 more lifts placed in new areas around the mountain. This shit goes way into the future its not anything you should expect to see soon.
 
i think the line your talking about is Lower Log jam. Albeit sickest run on a pow day, I think it was originally planned to have a lift, but got axed for later development. I would like to see the crystal chair replaced with a lift down that line, as you can see on the other side of the blackcomb glacier road there is a perfect staging area for the base of the lift. It would really reduce the ammount of time it takes to get back to the alpine from spankys. And you wouldnt have to line up with upload traffic from the gondola.

I've heard of this lift, and skied its line a few times. Its pretty narrow, so you have to be there early on a pow day. Some good looking airs, although most landings are flat. Pretty sure I also heard the planned lift has been shelved (sourced from the pocket guide book?).
