Found the most stupid argument on the bar down or up debate

like you can't tell me this makes any sense, fuck instagram and the stupid fucks on there.

There's some truth to this, the only people I've ever seen fall out of a chair leaned forward thinking the bar was there when it wasn't.

Its the same for park, I don't wear a helmet and I 100% fall less when I'm not wearing 1. Obviously if I'm wanting to try some new shit I'm putting a helmet on.

i cant even tell if this is sarcasm or not

You leave the bar up so that if the chair detaches from the cable, you can jump off before it hits the ground.

This was my favorite dumb argument

this totally depends on where you are, Colorado, California, nobody uses the bar. Europe, South America, Vermont, it's 100% bar down. When i ride with someone and their kids, I'm amazed that a lot of people around my area (Colorado) don't pull the bar down. But I think that for real people forget it's there, if you say "bar coming down" most people are cool with it. I can usually tell by someone's reaction to the bar whether or not they've skied outside of Colorado. I used to think it was kinda a pussy move to pull down the bar, but after skiing around some, i really don't give a shit either way. I do think it's weak to say "i need the footrest", i never put my feet up on that thing

yeah here in quebec everyone puts it down, canadian west coast mountains people also put it down

I always put it down. It annoys wannabe hood snowboarders from NY but if and when they fall off the lift I'm not going down with them.

Lean forward, belly up to the bar, and foot rest are the ticket man!

Maybe there is something to this. It’s kind of like how modern cars make you a shittier driver and you don’t even realize it. I hit a patch of ice in my old 4Runner last winter on the freeway and remembered in real time as I brainlessly mashed the brakes that there’s no ABS and no traction control on this old rig, I’m gonna have to actually drive. Ah the horror…

I think that's exactly the "bad chair form" the guys talking about. Why would you want your belly against the bar?

Someday you will understand! "bad chair form" No such thing. Ha ha! One sits the way they like.

Also, one can't "raise the bar" if they don't lower it!

I feel like more people get hurt from the bar than accidentally falling off the chair

People that don't pay attention! I never let someone pull the bar without a warning.

I'll grab it and hold it back. Helps to always ride on the ends.

I never pull the bar until I have the attention of all on board because I'm no dickhead.

The amount of times I've been hit in the back of the head because someone pulls down the bar the second our skis get off the ground is immeasurable

That's why you need to take control. Don't wait. Be ready to grab, and stop it. Then look them in the eye, and say "coming down with the bar, everyone ready". Thing is, you stopped it from coming down without warning. Freaks them out every time, and teaches a lesson!

HAHAHAHA ACCIDENTALLY YEAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SKI PATROL IT WAS AN ACCIDENT I SWEAR HAHAHAHAHA

When working I have to put the bar down. Used to never put it down and now I always put it down because I'm afraid I will forget that it's not down, so a little truth to the argument. I'm fine riding with the bar up, but if its a chair that the butt pad and back rest meet up so there is litterally nothing to grab onto if you slip, I'm putting the bar down or 6 packs freak me out for some reason.

I only bring the bar down with full force so i can epically crush the skull of the liberal thats sitting beside me

If I had a nickel for every time someone pulled the bar down without warning, smacking the back of my head...

I'd have like a dollar, cause it's happened many times.
